I have a USB 720 and my daughter has a UM150. We both are with Verizon (separate accounts). She consistently has a better RSSI than I do. I have tried my modem right beside hers and also moved several feet away from her, but her signal is ALWAYS better than mine. I understand that we won't always get identical signals, but there shouldn't be such a big difference.

Any ideas what may be the issue? Is the UM150 just a better piece of equipment?

My experience with the UM150 wasn't a good one. I'm very happy with the u727 I have now.

It may have been the company though, the UM150 was through verizon and my current u727 is with sprint. I believe the 720 is just an earlier model of the 727 correct?

BTW, how much better is her signal? Like 10dbm difference or just a few?

Also, is there a version of windows difference? I get better signal on my Vista machine compared to my XP sp2 and I don't understand that... about 5-7dbm better.

From what I understand, the 727 is the update to the 720 model.

Often, the difference in signal is 5-10dbm. Occasionally, she will get EVDO signal when I can only get a National Access signal.

Even my phone will have EV bars and my 720 can only get a National Access signal.

We are both running XP with SP2.
