I installed the U727 software that came with and activated my modem. I then downloaded the latest software build from sprint.com/downloads. I noticed when I plug in my modem to my latop it states their is a firmware update but then it fails. Any ideas?

The firmware file requires that you be logged in as Administrator if you are running Vista.

Vista was a real pain in the arse for me with this firmware update, but if you log in as Administrator and do the same update, or if you can find the update file and right click and run as adminstrator, it will go through ok.

Tony, were you using Vista 32 or 64?

Which SCM are you using: Novatel 3.10.014 or Sprint SmartView for Windows 1.12.0015.0?

I had this problem with vista32 and the new scm dialer, but doubt that it would behave any different in 64bit vista.

Well try to use Novatel SCM 3.10.014. It works just great.

FYI 3.10.14 continuously wants to update for me. Every boot it wants to update the PRL. I pull out the card click yes, Ok for failure, push in the card to find-card and log on. I'm tired of low quality software!!

I have an old SCM version that doesn't do this (??) but some issue has caused a hang in my XP bootup and figured I'd give a new SCM a try, still the XP hang and now this too. I just haven't gotten to re-install the old SCM.

Great carrier, good card (s620) but crummy software.
