Setup
VZW 5750 PCMCIA Modem card
Kyocera KR2 router
US Robotics Wireless G router
I have the KR2 on second floor of home and Cat 5 run to finnished basement plugged into a us robotics card..Everything is working great cant really complain about much since this setup works better than my cable provider can do ..believe it or not..
Things I have noticed which puzzle me.
1. when I have PC card plugged directly into Laptop my download speeds are 1.2 M and uploads are high 500's pings average 150..
2.When I plug card into KR2 and lock onto wireless my upload is cut in half..This happens to all 4 of the computers in my house.
3.When I lock onto the wireless US robotics router which hangs off the Kr2 I get my fast 600 uploads back..
This is all done from diffrent vantage points in and out of houe..I also have HDR locked on the card..
Why do you think the Kr2 is hurting my upload speeds...?
Are there some different settings I should be trying on the KR2?
I am averaging 1/8 mile hang time on the KR2 also..PS3 works pretty dam good on COD4 also.. |

Stange. Are you doing an security settings on the routers that your not doing on the laptop when the card is in that?
My speeds are about what you described with an AC595 card present in the KR2, pings 100's to 400's, 400-600up, 1.0-1.6down accroding to various speed tests. |

No security,(for now) both routers are set to factory defaults...
I use same site to run tests everytime..It is very wierd? |

This shouldn't be happening, but you do need to isolate the issue to the KR2. Plug your card into the KR2 and plug your laptop or PC with a short CAT5 patch cord into one of the ethernet ports on the KR2 and test the speed with that setup.
Diminshed speed will immediately isolate the issue to the KR2. I doubt it's your CAT5 run to the basement which shouldn't be much more than 60ft from the 2nd Floor to the basement, well within Ethernet standards.
If you're still having trouble, make sure DHCP is disabled on the US Robotics Router.Your KR2 is your Gateway, and I'd make sure you configure the US Robotics with the IP address of the KR2 as your default Gateway.
That's all I can think of as possible suggestions, Good Luck!! |

| I pretty much Isolated the issue to the KR2.I unplugged cat 5 from US robotics and plugged my lap top into cat 5 comming from KR2.The issue isnt the gateway it works fine off the us robotics router wirelessly or not..When I plug dirrectly into the KR2 my uploads are fine..Its just when I conect wirelessly to the KR2 my uploads are half what I see plugged in. |

Never mind, I misread your post. The upload is only halved when connecting wirelessly to your router, but not when hardwired. I don't think it mattered either way on the WRT. Sorry about that. _________________ --Larry |

What channel are your two access points operating on? Also, are you connecting to KR2 via g or n? If you're operating both routers on the same channel it is quite possible that you're having phase cancellation problems.
Even if you aren't, that is still quite possible due to how widely WiFi signals can be affected by environment. There was another thread here recently that had essentially the same problem except that his issue was the EVDO connection and not WiFi.
Moreover, does the n signal not reach your basement? I'm puzzled as to your need for a second router. If it's there for Ethernet connections a simple switch would work a lot better. |

Seperate Channels on routersKr2 is on 1 and USR is on 11.. the signal isnt the issue..I didnt have a switch so I just used what I had IE the US robotics router..So I could wire in the PS3 and desktop computer that live in basement..
I cant see how its the EVDO network when the gateway is my KR2 and the better uploads come from the USR which relies on the KR2?
but who knows stranger things have happened..? |
