Ok, so I hope this is the right forum for this sort of topic. Anyway, I tried Sprint's EVDO service last summer. Due to too many connection problems, I dropped it within 30 days. I was using a pantech px-500 last year.
After another year without broadband, I'm willing to try it again. My dept. at work recently got a data plan account, so I've been trying out the card at my house for the past couple days, and it's been flawless (novatel s720). Unfortunately I can't keep using it - I have to get my own
So here are my questions:
1. Would I still be considered a new customer (eligible for new deals) after trying it out last summer? This was in late July, early August of 2007.
2. Do I have to sign a contract, or is month-to-month an option? I know I won't get any deals on cards or whatever if I don't do a contract, but 2 years is a long time and I'm still a little wary after last year's experience.
Thanks for any help you can give. I know I could talk to sprint about this, but I wanted to see if anybody here could offer advice before I'm forced to wait on hold for an hour. |

You should be able to sign up as a new customer without problems. I did the same thing a couple of years ago. I tried it out and could only get a 1xRTT signal and then returned it two days later. A month or so later I decided even 1xRTT was better than dial up and I would know when the tower was upgraded near my residence.
As far as the contact goes, I haven't a clue and can only tell you what I read. I've swapped cards w/o extending a contract but never tried a fresh account w/ my own equipment. There was a post on here a couple of days ago about someone buying thier own equipment and trying to sign up w/o a contract with Verizon and they weren't having much luck. As for Sprint, who knows but call and see what happens. Good luck with the CSR's though.... |

| Ok, cool, thanks for the reply. At least if I want to I could still get a deal on a new card. Also, after some hunting around on sprint's site, I saw that you can sign up for a 1 year contract for $79.99/month. That's barely worth it imo, so if month-to-month even is an option, I think to say it would definitely not be worth the expense. Thanks again! |
