Leap Unveils Mobile Data Strategy for Cricket and Jump Mobile at CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 26, 2005-- Plans to Upgrade New & Existing Markets to 1xEV-DO; Signs Agreement with Motricity to Integrate Its WAP-Based Platform for Providing Customers an Enriched Mobile User Experience

During the annual CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment show being held this week in San Francisco, Leap Wireless International, Inc. (NASDAQ:LEAP), a leading provider of innovative and value-driven wireless communications services, is unveiling its mobile data strategy for its Cricket and Jump Mobile brands.

"We expect 2006 to be a landmark year for both our Cricket and Jump Mobile brands as we roll out our technology and mobile content," said Al Moschner, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Leap. "We have committed to a cost-effective deployment of 1xEV-DO in our markets across the country, which we believe will lay the foundation for a more data-centric offering for our customers."

Leap expects it will build-out its new markets and upgrade its existing markets to 1xEV-DO for approximately $475 million or less. The Company is currently in discussion with 1xEV-DO infrastructure providers to upgrade its 1X networks across the country to this next-generation wireless technology. The company expects to begin deploying 1xEV-DO in 2006.

Leap is also currently in discussions with content providers for enhanced gaming and music applications.

The company today also announced that it has signed an agreement with Motricity, a premier provider of mobile content and solutions, to integrate its Fuel platform for mobile content delivery to Leap's Cricket and Jump Mobile customers. Based on WAP 2.0, Motricity's Fuel platform will enable Leap to deliver a variety of feature-rich applications to its Cricket and Jump Mobile customers including graphics, polyphonic and true-tone ringtones, games, premium WAP content such as Top 40 music downloads, and more.

"Integrating Motricity's Fuel platform will enable us to provide our Cricket and Jump Mobile customers a richer user experience with access to both Jump Mobile- and Cricket-branded WAP portals and storefronts," said Moschner. "We are excited about the branding aspect of the Motricity Fuel platform and the enhanced mobile content that the platform provides our customers from mobile internet browsing capabilities to full-track music downloads and enhanced gaming."

The Company plans to begin offering content powered by Motricity's Fuel platform in the first half of 2006.
