| Any chance this SmartView manager just lets Sprint track your usage more closely or easily. Might there be some benfit to NOT downloading it. |

For the Novatel's SCM v3.10.014 works better with Vista 64 and is not as intrusive anyway.
Last winter Michael mentioned Sprint was going to set a date in the spring when we would all need to switch to the Smartview, but it never did - perhaps because of problems some were having with it. _________________ Vista64 & EX720

|
|
I'm had the same problem with my Sprint Sierra Compass 597 and SmartView on my MacBook Pro. I put the card in and hit connect and it asks for the admin password, then does nothing. It does this over and over.
I worked around this by plugging the card in and going to System Preferences > Network. The Sierra card shows up in the left column. I select it then enter #777 as the phone number. I then clicked advanced and told it to use Other as the vendor, and Mobile Stream CDMA or Sierra WWAN and it works. I don't know if it's as fast as with SmartView, but it works and is usable.
I had VMWare installed so I uninstalled it. This required re-downloading the VMWare software so I could run the "uninstaller" that ships with the installer. Once that was done I rebooted the mac and SmartView still did not work. I then went back into System Preferences . Network and created a new Location. From the new location I deleted the Sierra listing in the left side of the window. Once that was done SmartView started working. That's it.

i'm trying to help my friend who has the 597 compass on her c700 compaq laptop. everything was working fine this morning she says, then was prompted to download the new smartview and after that, now she can't access through sprint nor wifi through windows. there's a host of other errors. she tried doing a system restore to before and the problem still is there. she's been on with sprint tech support but they can't help so far. i've tried installing an older scm 3.05.004 and it gave the error, tcp/ip protocol is not installed properly" which i imagine is why wifi is not working
any ideas how to fix this without reinstalling vista? |

| Sorry guys but I've been busy at a new job (I used to do Tier 2 for a company that supported the Sprint Cards) and I haven't had a chance to peruse the forums. Anyway, when the new manager came out, I had this problem and I figured out the solution, which is go to "Rules Engine" and change the "Connection Maintenance" pull down to "Maintain established connection regardless of other network availability" I figured out the solution about 2 days after I encountered it and called up Sprint and reported the fix and I suppose the person was too lazy to enter it in because they should have been able to fix this months ago when I told them about it. |

Thank you so much edgy. I've been searching for a way to make VMware and Sprint SmartView work together!
I've only registered to properly thank him for the solution. For some reason, VMware can't play my games well. It sucks. |

Is there a way to get Smartview 2.22 working with MAC OSX 10.5.6? When I attempt to connect I am asked for my username and password and after entering and clicking OK nothing happens.. The card does not connect...
I am able to connect perfectly using my Network Preferences Pane...

| I fixed the admin password error by created a new location in the network system prefs. Then removing ALL network entries in the location. I then launched sprint smart view and it readded the Sierra wireless network entry. I hit connect, entered the admin password, and it worked. I'm running OS X 10.5.7. |

Is there any way to use the sprint EVDO service, I have a u727 modem activated, WITHOUT the software?
Are there configuration settings one can use on the mac for this? |

| is there any reason to upgrade to the latest 2.27 software? Does anyone have a link to what features are added or additional bug/functionality updates? |
