At one point a couple weeks ago I was able to connect to the network using the 727 and my laptop. Now, I'm getting an error code qa914 when trying to connect using the vzaccess software on windows. I'm also get this error while trying to activate the 727 as well.

I don't think there has been any changes to the computer's configuration that would of caused any changes.

I've tried changing the COM to COM 3 which is the lowest I have available.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions to try to get this to work?

Thanks

I have the same 727 and it works fine on my IBM T42p in Los Angeles, but on two trips to Atlanta, GA, (in the last two months) all I get is the same QA914 Error, and Tech support is stumped. Works fine once back in LA.

Now on my Desktop (that worked fine a week ago), it dose the same error QA914 here In Los Angeles. but if I hook it up to the T42p it works fine.

Verizon refuses to help, saying it is a PC problem, but with the location differences, and the PC's working one minute and not the next, sounds like it might be time to switch providers, if CS will not help.

If Someone knows how to deal with this, please post.

I got the QA914 error today with a USB720 and here is the scenario -

Been running my laptop just fine with VZAccess. Loaned my USB720 to a co-worker (different laptop) and she's been using it ok for the past couple days.

Purchased a new USB720. Went online to co-workers verizon wireless account manager and punched in the new USB720's ESN. I plugged this USB720 into MY laptop and it proceeded to activate. However, whenever I tried to connect, I got the QA914 error.

I pulled the new USB720 out of my laptop, inserted into co-worker's laptop, and voila, no error, works just fine.

Got my old USB720 back from co-worker, inserted into my laptop, and connects just fine.

So bottom line we are up and running again on both laptops with both USB720's.

I wonder if there was something goofy going on between the "phone number" my VZAccess had remembered from my old USB720 vs. the co-workers new USB720 with a new "phone number".

Also should note than when co-worker first used my USB720 I installed fresh copy of VZAccess manager for the USB720 (she had previously been using a KPC650) So in effect the VZAccess software on her laptop was "virgin" and might explain why she had no problem using my USB720.

I have a USB720 and my daughter has a UM150. We have both experienced this issue. Our problem was fixed by calling Verizon Tech Support and having them delete our "location record". Once this is done, you may need to run Activation again.

If the tech support person doesn't know what you are talking about when you say "location record", abandon the call with them and call back later to get a different tech support person. I have found that some know what I am talking about and some don't.

We both travel from Florida to Georgia and it always seems to occur during or shortly after we have taken a trip.

Hope this helps!!!

Hi all I just thought I would add my experience to this thread as I spent a long time looking for a solution. I have several laptops and work stations that I use the Verizon usb727 on . Most systems run Windows XP. I have an older laptop that I am running Windows FLP (google it).

I installed the VZW access manager on the FLP machine and could not connect or activate. Switched back to a laptop that I knew was good and it worked, frustrating! After speaking with verizon I could not get the issue resolved and assumed it was something in FLP. So I tried a fresh install on a virgin system with XP same problem could not connect or activate.

The solution I found was to set up a dialup account for EVDO modem use #777 as the dial up number, then connect in this way. This bypasses the VZW access manager. Everything connected great and ran well. So then I decided to try the VZW access manager and after a little while for it to config the device up it came!

I have no idea why this worked, maybe it forced an activation or a prl update.

Hope this helps out.

I worked on this problem for hours after not getting any help from Verizon.

After reading the posts I called Verizon again and asked them to reset the "location record." The Tech said the proper term is to reset the VLR.

Verizon reset the VLR and the problem was not solved. The Verizon Tech then tried something related. He then said he put in a "dummy" ESN# and reset my account. After a minute he re-entered my correct ESN# and reset it again. My modem now works perfectly.

He said by using the dummy ESN # number and then re-entering my correct ESN# all of the parameters for my modem were reset in the Verizon system.

I was getting error codes QA914 and QA920. I really hope this helps a lot of people that have been as frustrated as I have been for several months.

I have a Verizon UM 150 USB Modem and it is now working beautifully again. The problem happened after I loaned the modem to an associate and then plugged it into my laptop when they returned it.
