It appears the U727 isn't recognized as a WWAN device in Leopard. You have to go into the Network Utility every time you want to connect / disconnect. There is also no way to see the signal strength and network type.

Has anyone figured out a way to get the U727 to appear in the OSX menu bar?

The U727 is not yet supported by apple as a built in WWAN device. I am unable to get the 727 to work even as a manual connection, I always get "No Service" when trying to connect.

however my U720 works perfectly fine.

Mine works fine w/ Leopard, no problems at all ... just can't get it to show the WWAN menu.
