OK I have a Verizon U720 and it works great plugging it into my laptop or my wifes laptop or either of the Kids computers. Now I need to set up some sort of network so that we can use it on more than one computer at a time. I have seen the Routers available at the 3GStore, and that is one possibility. Another idea that I had was to plug the U720 into the family computer in the family room (we usually leave it turned on anyway) and then connect a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router and set up a wireless home network (a friend just gave me the router)
Is there a "White Paper" or other document that would aid a person is setting this up? Is this going to be a real headache or pain in the A--? What are other folks thoughts?
Thanks for your advice |

The Cradlepoints are extremely easy to setup. Plug"N Play really. The CTR-350 is so small and portable you can take it with you anywhere. Even operate it off battery power. That's the route I would take, plus you get all the security and file sharing you don't get with ICS. Of course the support from the 3G folks is a bonus as well. Just plug your Linksys into it for added range, or get the MBR-1000 and not worry about it.
My 2 cents _________________ evdo-tips.com |

you can use the linksys but it will be harder than an EVDO router. youll need a bit of networking knowledge.
basically, you run ICS on the family computer, disable DHCP on the linksys and use the ICS machine as a DHCP server/gateway (point all the other machines at it). youll need to do security yourself. also the family computer will take a performance hit. this the way Im running. Id rather have an EVDO router but till I get the coin, this works well.
I dont know of any white papers (aside from the excellent one posted by Alex ) but its doable however a EVDO router is by far the easiest way. plug and play and secure by default. rolling your own just depends on how comfortable you are playing with your network. |

| Make sure you get a router with a usb port, the D-Linik DIR-450 has a usb connection, just plug it in(the U720 into the router) and you have a network. |

I would recommend any of the CradlePoint brand routers over the DIR 450.
Top reasons why:
1. Monthly firmware updates (When is the last time DIR450 had a firmware update???)
2. In my opinion, the cradlepoints are the most reliable/stable EVDO routers available
3. Great support from 3Gstore & CradlePoint
4. Always adding new features & card support (this falls under reason #1, but is worth mentioning again |
