Someone on HoFo brought this up originally: There's a post on phonescoop where someone is claiming that an Alltel tech told them they would have Rev A out in the next 1-3 months, depending on location.
Anyone out there hearing anything on this? I've emailed Alltel, but no response yet. |

Remember the Cowardly lion's line from the Wizard of Oz "I do believe in spooks. I do believe in spooks. I do! I do! I do! I do believe in spooks. I do believe in spooks. I do! I do! I do! I do!"
I do believe in Rev.A. I do believe in Rev.A. I do! I do! I do! I do believe in Rev.A. I do believe in Rev.A. I do! I do! I do! I do!
btw- Anybody got a bib I can borrow ??

| It's been out in select areas, apparently for testing, for several months now. Several folks have posted Rev A speeds on this forum from time to time. Would be really nice to see them launch it nationwide SOON though, wouldn't it? Michigan seems to be first to get it although I know it's been in south central Ga. for a while too. |

| I've seen where it's been testing, and it seems like it's been testing quite a while. Of course, Alltel doesn't really jump in too quickly, which is both good and bad. I'm getting the impression that they are preparing to go at least a good part of the nation, if not nationwide. Since I'm just off Interstate 80, I'm guessing that this area will be among the first, just because of the proximity to a major interstate and the fact that Alltel stresses the mobile aspect. |

| I talked to a data tech today, and they stated that only the UM150 would support Rev A when they roll it out. Does anyone have a card that is in a Rev A area other than the UM150 currently? I want to see if they are just trying to sell the UM150 to me, or if this is legit. |

| Several PC5750 owners have reported on this forum that their QLM shows Rev A capability. |

I figured as much. The more the tech talked, the more it felt like a sales pitch. Plus, purchasing a UM150 through them means a contract, which they let me out of to make up for all of my issues. |

| The PC5750 definitely supports Rev A with the latest update. |

I was at the Alltel store today asking about cards that were rev A. The sales lady came back with a PAPER LETTER from Alltel. It said ONLY the UM 150 was Rev A ready. Also said something to the effect that the 5750, and kpc 680 and other card they sale were "not ready for Rev A at this time". Saw it with my own eyes. I have the kpc 680. Said Rev A coming sometimes this year but did not kmow when.

| out of the box the PC5750 isn't Rev A ready. You have to apply an update, which is what I said in my previous post. |

I think the company line is that the UM150 is going to be the only card with Rev A to get you to buy it. There are some on here that have the 5750 that are seeing Rev A speeds, apparently. The latest firmware for the 5750 from alltel does show Rev A capability in the Help>About screen.
If someone on here with the 5750 that's getting Rev A would post, I would appreciate it. I'm also going to check on HoFo. |

| I have a UM150, I see flashes of "rA" once every few minutes, like when they were first turning on EVDO. I don't think I'm picking up Sprint because their maps show no EVDO here. Hopefully they enable it soon. |

I have been getting this for a month or two in 32536. RevA pops up every so often. When it flashes, I get kicked off until its gone, and am not able to connect to it.
I am on Sprint, but roam on AllTel (until a month ago or so, when Sprint came up with EVDO Rev 0 in my area - however Sprint denies it).
Very strange.

I live in zip 49240 (southern Michigan) and when i first got hooked up with Alltel, I received an instant of RevA - nothing since. I currently have my card hooked up with an extension USB cable and in the best spot in the home. I'm hoping an external antenna will "bring it back" (yet to buy the antenna). I'm 2.5 miles from the tower - over a few hills, through some trees...
I tried my card at my in-laws, zip 49240 12 miles across town with a tower 7 miles away. Plugged the card into an extension USB cable and held it over my head and got consistant RevA. They too are between a few hills and trees. Strange... |
