This might be in a few posts already, but I am in a time crunch and need some answers.
I setup an Alltel KPC680 via USB adapter to a KR1 router for my owner. We didn't really configure anything else on the KR1. We have a wireless range extender in the middle of the building and a PC w/Vista on the other end using the wireless. About twice or more a week, the pc will shoe LOCAL access only (even though its connected to the KR1 w/ 5 bars) and won't let the user out to the web. They will manually have to power cycle the KR1 to get the internet back. This is not really an acceptable procedure for my owners to have to do.
Went through alltel support and they believe their card is fine and that it could be the router. Anything else I can check or test? Getting the KR2 is also another option, any suggestions about doing that.
Any answers would be greatful.
Thanks |

If it was me I'd try either the KR2 or the CradlePoint MB1000. A bonus is that both of these also have extended range and you might be able to eliminate the range extender.
FWIW, where I live Alltel purposely drops my connection every twelve hours. My Linksys router never realizes this has happened so it fails to renegotiate. Power-cycling/rebooting the router reconnects. Sounds like it's more random for your client, but -- can you put the router on a timer and re-boot daily at a time that's suitable?

Meh i have the same set up... it works great for surfing and thats about it... i don't like how it disconnects after you put it threw some heavy downloading for about 10min. Then u have to get it to restart and work again. Why cant it just slow down and stay coonected and gradually regain higher speeds =\
We paid 300 for the KR 1 and it is on the verge of being obsolete... New Cradle Point router is now in stock to buy bran spankin new for 250.
There are 2 compatible cards with it from alltel, the one u have and the UM 150... The UM150 is Rev A ( dunno what that really means but i have hard its the best for some reason unknown) |

| I think alltel does the same with stopping the connection here every so often as well. I didnt look super deep in the KR1 but so far I havent found any place where you can set a time to automatically reboot. Has anyone else? |

I thing most people have used a separate timer at the plug -- like the kind you use for lights when you're out of town.
I really think you're better off with the KR2 anyway. |

| Can those timers power it off then turn it back on right away? I have contacted Alltel and they do not have any news or reviews on the KR2 yet, even though we can get them through Kyocera or CDW. I'd like to stick with what Alltel is supporting for their support, warranties, etc.. but the KR2 might be the best bet. |

The light timers probably need to be off for about ten minutes before they click back on. And a hard off then on would likely be hard on the router and card.
Consider talking to 3Gstore about the KR2 -- their support is even better than Alltel's and warranty issues would be no problem. |
