Hey guys I can't seem to get a clear answer. I used to have Hughesnet and they had a FAP (fair access policy which considering I was paying 80$ a month and had a download limit I didn't find very fair). ANYWAYS! I'm just a little concerned that alltel's plan may not be unlimited. I know verizon says their connection is unlimited but at the same time only allow 5G and hughesnet advertises unlimited yet you still have a limit.

Is Alltel's unlimited internet access truly unlimited?

Thanks,
-Taylor

As far as I know, Alltel's service is truly unlimited. I've had no phone calls or extra charges on the bill and I download quite heavily. If I had to ballpark it I would say around 15-18 gigs a month if that helps at all.

Their "terms and conditions" don't state anything about limits or what you can or cannot download.

I spoke to an alltel rep. a few hours ago, and at the beginning of our conversation she told me the service is unlimited usage. Just prior to hanging up, I asker her to confirm if it is unlimited bandwidth, and she said "yes".

tjfluharty: Are you comfortable with their speed?

I get a download speed of around 60-70kbps, which is taking me forever to download the halo 2 maps lol but at least I can download them!

My usage is high enough that the bill reads data 99999, and haven't ever had any additional billing.

actually when i talked to alltel about the terms and agreements... (in the terms and agreements it does state limitations)...she said she has rarly ever seen anyone go over.

Unlimited Axcess Broadband and MobileLink services cannot be used for the following:
1. Up/down-loading or streaming of movies, music, or games;
2. With server devices or with host computer apps, including web camera posts/broadcasts, automatic data feeds, VOIP, or file sharing;
3. As a substitute or backup for private lines or dedicated data connections;
4. Peer-to-Peer (P2P) file sharing.

But i do indeed do all of the above =P

Same here. In fact, when I bought the card (yes, I did the 2-year thing, stop laughing), the representative sold me on how much music/movies he downloaded compared to dial up.

The unlimited ordeal was the very reason I went with Alltel and not the others. Unless you're trying to run a corporation from your home, I think the FAP is only fair to the provider not the user.

I've been trying to decide between alltel and Verizon and that's a deal breaker for me. Yeah Verizon has the 5GB cap but at least they let you surf how you want to surf.

Anyone out there that does game with Alltel anyway??? if so have they said anything.... have they changed your service at all??

The part about not being able to use it is listed under the Axcess part of Alltel's site not the internet part. Does it still apply or, are these two different services they offer with the Axcess being more restricted on usage?

This is where I found the quote:
