|
|
I'm going to be traveling to Brunswick, GA for awhile and I have a Sprint EVDO CDU-680. I originally saw that I won't have Sprint coverage according to their maps, but then I read that we can roam on Alltel EV-DO towers. The problem is, Alltel's maps are so bad I can't tell if Brunswick, GA has any coverage.
Can anyone confirm Brunswick, Georgia EV-DO and Sprint's ability to roam on them?
Or a place with a better map? EVDOmaps.com has nothing for that area. |

I can't confirm from being there* but from the Sprint coverage map it looks likely. Yes, I've taken to looking for the dark gray "mobile broadband roaming" on the Sprint maps to see where I have Alltel coverage.
Alltel has better coverage maps in-house right now and I'm hoping someday they put that version online.
*Hopefully BigDave can confirm -- that's not too far north of him. |

According to the map on the Alltel site, Brunswick is covered with Rev0. They just today redesigned their website (for the worst) but I finally found the maps hidden in there somewhere (could not link to them, they are on a popup).
Prepare to eat some delicious seafood while you are in Brunswick! |

Yes, I can confirm. Alltel EVDO covers the Ga. coast from Savannah to St. Marys.
Sprint roams just fine too although you get Sprint EVDO Rev A starting about 15 miles south of Brunswick.
Oh yeah, I can also confirm . . . . Alltel has the worst coverage maps in the business. What's up with that? It's like they really don't want anyone to know where their coverage truly is . . . . . . |

Thanks for the help guys. I am actually in-car right now headed that way. We just passed through Mobile, AL and I had a full two-way video iChat with my dad in Texas (he was at home sitting at his computer) at 70 mph. He was blown away. Of course, my wife made me sit in the passenger seat while I was doing this.
lewxam, if you have any seafood recs for Brunswick area, please pass them along! |
