I've just replaced my KPC650 with a UM150.
The KPC650 always showed 2-3 bars of signal strength, the UM150 shows 0-1. But it seems to be working fine. This is on the same external antenna.
Why would this be? Should I be worried? |

bars and led's are not the best way to judge signal.
try checking your RSSI, instead... with and without the antenna. btw, what antenna is it? |

Yes. At the moment it's connected to a CTR350 and I can't find anywhere it gives any indication of signal strength.
It's a Yagi purchased a couple of years ago (during my first attempt at EVDO using AT&T at dial-up speeds). I think it's 14dB but I can't seem to lay my hands on the paperwork at the moment. I get essentially zero signal without the antenna (unless I climb on the roof).
Edit: The antenna is dual-band. |
