My current setup is Sprint U720, KR1. (Macbook with other Macs in the household.) Things are pretty good, in terms of not having too many disconnect problems. I get the occasional port 80 blocking, not something I can control. However, my speed isn't great, compared to others. If I get 800 dl and 300 ul, that's good for me; latency is under 200. I have no interest in an antenna.
Would I likely get faster and more stable service if I went for the 727 and the Cradlepoint router?
Thanks. |

remind us again, what RSSI does your U720 get when operating from your U720?
The U727 does have a slightly better loop-design antenna so it *might* get better signal (of course, our booster antenna would be best option).
The cradlepoint routers have given many former KR1 owners much better connection stability and performance/throughput.
But.... if your RSSI is great, you problem could be the tower you are connected to! and the u727/cradlepoint combo would do nothing to fix that. |

Thanks for your help. I'm using a Macbook so can't see signal strength as a number. The little wedge-shaped thing in the menu bar usually shows all four bands. When I first had the setup, though, I had a Dell desktop and the signal strength was good, but I can't recall the actual number.
I sort of do suspect it's tower issues for me.

I was looking at the Airport icon.
Do I need to have the USB 720 directly in my Mac to do that? Because it doesn't seem to show me a number if I click on the Airport icon.
When I go to the KR1 website, my signal strength always shows a lot of bars. |

yes, you need to operate u720 directly attached to your mac to see RSSI.
the KR1's signal strength reading is not RSSI, and not a reliable figure. |
