|
|
I am in So Arkansas and have a good connection.DBM-43 5 bars
signal strength.Over half the web pages I select will not come up.
I am getting 1x signal. Evdo has been coming on and off for the last
8 months I've seen DO one time.I have a KPC 680 with 2 amplifiers
and yagi antenna.
When the EVDO first started somebody told me it would take a
couple of months but it is now going on 9 months.
I guess they don't give a damn they get the same amount of money
for the slow connection.

I suggest that you check with Alltel and make sure that you have the latest software for your card. Tech support should be able to tell you what it should be. _________________ Ron |

My Prl was just updated to 40036.My speeds run around 125 down
10 up. My software update tell me I am running the latest.
I have an amp in the recieve hole and an amp in the TX recieve hole
on seperate yagi antennas.
When it goes to DO I loose my signal strength.I looked at that and my
rssi for 1x was -48 and for EVDO -115.

Out of curiosity, what is the benefit of having 2 yagi antennas?

I don't know I'm not into electronics.
I just happen to have 2 yagi's and 2 wires and had read somewhere
that you can stack yagi antennas.
Also had only one connection on my main antenna.
It is not my equipment the problem is ALLTEL and when my contract
is up I will be gone so fast I will not even stir up any dust.
They will lie to you when the truth would be better and over bill every chance the get.I have been with them 3 years and have the experince.
When I bought this 680 and applied for the rebate I sent in my orginal
sales slip from thier store and they told me it was an invalid reciept.
So I told them my contract is on the same reciept and that got my
rebate. As I said they will lie when the truth works better.

For F34 R
I was a commercial pilot for 30 years and do know a little bit
about dierctions. Also this is So Arkansas and you don't have a lot to choose from. AS I said ALLTEL is the problem.Nothing wrong wit
my equipment. My computer is 4 months old (Dell XPS) and works great.

My experience of over 7 years with Alltel is just the opposite but that's certainly not to discount your experience. Anyway . . . . . . . I reread your OP and see where you are apparently not really looking for any possible solutions but instead appear to just want to vent. No problem. Been there and got that t-shirt.
Take care and good luck!
Interesting take on using an amp and a Yagi independently on both tx and receive lines. I'd be interested in hearing from the experts as to whether this would work or cause problems. |

Joe, Joe, Joe . . . . . I can assure you that I do NOT work for Alltel. I agree that Alltel can be slow. I agree that when they're "playing with the EVDO" it totally screws things up. I went through that as well but was lucky it was resolved much quicker than your situation but I have known areas in eastern N.C. where it took about as long as your area. Who knows why? Not even sure Alltel could tell you . . . . . . but once they finally get EVDO turned on permanently you'd be very happy. Maybe. But I do indeed understand paying for something when it's not what you thought it was going to be. Again, been there, done that, and got the t-shirt.
I really wasn't trying to be a jerk . . . . it just doesn't sound like you're looking for a solution as much as a place to vent and again, I don't blame you for that.
I am curious though . . . . how far are you from the tower? Have you tried your card in a laptop? If so, have you taken it closer to the tower and tested it? Have you tried the card with no amp/antenna lately? And finally, have you tried it with only one amp and antenna hooked up the "normal" way? (Whatever that is . . . . ) |

Yes,yes, yes andyes I have tried everything that I have read about
and some that nobody has even heard of.
My computer is a laptop (Dell XPS 1210) I can drive 1 and 1/2 miles
from my house and connect toEVDO 14 miles away with no ams or antannas and get 680 down. The terain stops me at home.
According to my GPS I am 5.73 miles from this tower. Go figure

I.'m not really sure what this means?

I'm confused as to how this is Alltel's fault? Being within 6 miles of a tower and you're attributing the problem to your terrain........ Are you needing Alltel to come move a mountain or two? They might not be able to satisfy you if that's the case...........

There ain't no mountians in So Ar.
I said I could drive 1 ans 1/2 miles and get EVDO 14 miles away.(Top of a high hill)
But I cannot get it on the 5.7 miles away.
How much do they pay you to blame there failures on everybodys
equipment?
9 months is to long.Evdo came up on my phone a few minutes ago
and that kicks me off the internet.Been going on 9 months now.
