An MBR 1000 in a different colored case lol???   Even if made by Cradle Point I'll stay with Cradle Point simply because of their customer support over Kyocera (personal opinion and experience is all). Cradle point has been very responsive to my needs.
As far as the PCMCIA slot, PCMCIA cards are becoming a dying breed are they not?? History has yet to unveil itself here. I am curious as to how well Kyocera will support this unit as far as devices are concerned versus their KR1? We'll see.
On edit....... looking at the supported devices the chart does not specify on devices ( providers)??? |

| Though PCMCIA type 2 cards are indeed a dying breed there are still thousands of people out there who have them and they work perfectly well so I would think it'd be nice for them to finally be able to use a router. Just my 2 pennies worth. |

No idea, but the obvious answer is that it requires more parts thus leading to a higher cost to manufacture. And Dave is right, there's still a lot of PCMCIA cards out there. If you consider how many people still have really old cell phones, including AMPS only, it isn't hard to believe that there are a lot of people who see no need to upgrade to Rev. A or a different form factor. Just my thoughts. |

I'm thinking that since the KR1 already had the PCMCIA slot they just added the express card slot and the others making the PCMCIA slot an easy deal for them whereas the MBR1000 would have entered into a whole new area to add support for the "big cards". Just my thoughts on a rainy Saturday morning . . . . . . 
As for me and my family . . . . although I was a very happy KR1 customer for well over a year the support issues mentioned in 3GStore's review as opposed to all I've read about what great support the folks at Cradlepoint provide . . . . . well, we look forward to being very happy Cradlepoint customers for the foreseeable future. |

Thanks guys . . . . . . any chance I could get either or both of you guys to teach those three words to my wife? 15 years and still trying to train her to the basics . . . . . DAVE IS RIGHT . . . . . Too sad that I can only seem to hear that in a virtual world.

no direct reporting of RSSI at all. yet.
make sure cradlepoint hears your "demand" - send email to suggestions@cradlepoint.com
they do listen. just slower on some things than others. |

Ok, I wasn't sure what RSSI meant...Why would the KR1 have it, and the KR2 wouldn't? I might as well go back to a KR1 lol, which never worked very well to begin with... |

Hey guys. I'm a newbie to this stuff yet so bare with me  . Right now we have a KPC680 going via USB adapter to a KR1. No security or anything setup. About once or more a week, the users (1 or 2max) will loose internet and have to power cycle the KR1. It will come back up right away but its an inconvenience. I have contacted Alltel and they believe the data card is fine. SO, my options are to possibly replace the KR1 with another one or get the KR2. Any suggestions? |

| Go with the KR2. I've had one with a KPC680 sitting on my desk for a month with no downtime. KR2 handles signal loss and disconnections quite a bit more gracefully than KR1 did. |

Mackieman, any problems with so far with the KR2? Did you have any of the similar problems with the KR1 with it dropping or losing connection, etc? Do you have the 680 in the express slot instead of USB and are you using Vista by chance with wireless?
