CTR-350 and Alltel KPC-680 and BB8830

I got the CTR-350 and the 680 is not working at all and the 8830 is working OK. I need some help troubleshooting the 680.

680 - Using the Novatel XUA-1 expresscard to usb adapter plugged into the USB port of the router:
The blue light on 680 comes on but does not flash.
The green usb light on the router is off.

Is there some setting or procedure I am missing here? The XUA-1 works fine plugged into USB port. I have tried going into the WAN setting and type in the card's standard Alltel user name and password, although it seems that should not be needed.

BB8830 - Plugged in with data cord.
Worked immediately, but at 1X speeds, until I entered the Alltel user name and password in the WAN settings, the voila EVDO.

I would just use the phone except it is my phone and I need it for that purpose, LOL. Plus the data card is faster.
