|
|
| I have searched this great forum for my problem but haven't seen a similar question. I am using a UM150 modem with Alltel. I have been happy with the service so far. I would like to share the connection around the house. I already have a D-Link wireless router. My laptop is running Vista Home Premium. Is there a way to enable ICS on the laptop and then connect the router via ethernet to the laptop to allow other computers in the home to access the internet wirelessly? I know the easiest solution is one of the routers that connect directly to the modem, but $250 is a little steep. Any help or ideas will be appreciated. |

Cradlepoint CTR350 is only $150 and will do the same thing for less money and it's so small it's too cool!
It is possible to do what you're asking and many are successfully doing so but it is typically a rather large pain in the keester to do so and keep it working without a decent amount of networking experience. |

Yes, just do what you just said. If ISC was not installed, it is on the system disk. Activate it, plug the ethernet port on the laptop into the WAN/Internet port on the router, and you are set to go.

| Thanks for the help. Plugging in to the WAN port with the laptop wouldn't work, but one of the LAN ports allowed the Wii to connect. |
