Hi Folks,
I'm getting ready to order my MBR1000 which I'll be using with an UM150. Did some speed tests and on 1xRTT I get:
Ping; 1045 to 1691
UP; 49 to 81
Down; 123 to 132
RSSI; 89 to 94
Close to the tower the RSSI is 75. I am 3.10 miles ffrom the tower, Trees block any line of sight but terrain is relatively flat. My signal will vary when I move around and go outside. Would a booster ant help get me a solid signal gain?
Thanks much,
Ken |

Did you get EVDO when you had that RSSI 75? If you did then I would try an outside trucker antenna and try to get closer to that signal.
Then you might be able to get EVDO at your location.
And yes, any antenna should help improve the signal. You should see both speed improvement and less drop outs with the improved signal. _________________ Ron |

No we still are on 1xRTT even that close to the tower. The sales girl at Alltel did say they were upgrading the towers by the end of winter. Of course that was when I bought the card 2 months ago. I was just wondering about peoples real world experience in a similar situation as mine.

| IMO I seriously doubt you'd see enough gain to justify the cost of the booster. The speeds you reported are about as fast as you're going to get until you get EVDO. |
