I have this huge hughesnet dish mounted right outside my window.

I was wondering. What if I get a yagi and attatch it to the dish. Is it possible that'll work like a grid, but possibly better? or would it just be a waste of time. It's ground mounted about 6ft off the ground. Would this give me a better signal or worse? or should I just grab the omni and mount it on my roof?

The feed in a dish should have two features a yagi doesn't have.

It should be small so you can put the whole thing at the focal point of the dish. Think dipole, not yagi.

It should have a wide enough reception area so that it can see the whole dish. Easiest thing is a dipole, with a reflector on the off-dish side so it only sees the dish.

I have no idea what you mean lol!

This is a whole new language to me I suppose. Maybe a bit to much for someone new to this kind of stuff? or do you think I could possibly do it? i'd hate to see my dish just go to waste.

*Edit*
Also is there even a point to be using a directional antenna with there being 6 towers and 30 antennas in a 4 mile radius?

Would a omni be better? I'm not sure what exactly to do. The mount that the dish would be on is only about 6ft off the ground and if the tower is on the otherwise of my house I'd have to point it directly at my house. Would it work well going through my house?

*Edit*
It looks like a bit to much for me. I'm just going to buy the omni one from 3G and mount it to my roof. With that I should get -70 or better constant, which should work out just fine.

Good choice. With that many anntena in your vicinity you really wouldn't want to limit yourself to one I wouldn't think. If it should go down, get overloaded, etc. you're stuck unless you re-aim your antenna. Omni sounds like the better choice in your situation. Of course I'm no expert in this area but it seems logical.
