Is it possible to play TF2? I get 200-300ms ping in EQ2, but that's an MMO and they come usually standard with 200ms ping locked. So I wonder how it'll work in an FPS game.
I'm scared to go spend the money and find out the darned thing won't work so good on my connection.
I used to play CS and TFC on dial-up a LONG time ago, but times have changed.
I wanted to play so badly when I had satellite, but my friend tried it and a no go. So I wonder..
How many folks have successfully got it working and what was your average ping?
Thank you. |

So no one has played TF2 or any other FPS on wireless? Odd.
Anyway, I just went into BF2 and there was over 50 servers that I pinged less then 200 to. So is that good? I don't even have my antenna yet either. |

| I play several FPS games on Xbox Live without problem. I don't know about PC games, but there are threads here that address PC gaming, also. |

Ok, thank you.
I'll go buy Orange Box today. Hell if it doesn't work online that well.. I still wanna play HL2.
I also discovered something VERY cool if yas haven't found out about it.. it's kind of tucked away on the CD, BUT there is an Alltel Internet Accelerator.
Normally these accelerators don't do jack, but I was shocked at my speed increases. They could be wrong, but I went from 1mbs to 2.5mbs.
Sad thing is it only works in IE. So if you have FireFox you can download the IE button addon. Switch to IE rendering. Start the file download. TADA! Boosted =D
*Edit*
N/M it seams to have messed up any test results.. during file downloading.. it gave absolutely no boost at all.. talk about false advertising O.O |

| I've got the orange box but I didn't try playing TF2 online because my GPU is a pile. As far as playing FPS games with wireless you should be ok if you can stay under 300 ms, or better yet under 275 ms but I usually don't say that low and people start complaining that you have a high ping and you get shot all the time because its just too slow to react. My average ping is in the 290-350 ms area with a tethered Razr 2. |
