Ok sometimes if I'm lucky I get 150ms or so for latency but most of the time it's way higher and I see over 1000ms most of the time! My signal strength is in the 50's I can see a tower from my window which must be it. My d/l and u/l speeds are good when I have 150ms and very very slow when I have over 1000ms.
So my questions, If I have gotten good latency at times and never made any changes does that mean it's something with sprints end? I called them once and the rep just said it might be peak times, and was no help.
I'm in Port Aransas, Texas.
What should I do next? I'm using a sierra 595u
Great signal strength,... horrible latecy. |

While connected, move mouse over Stop button and type ##DEBUG. Look for Packet Error Rate. Does it bounce around with different numbers or constantly 0? If not 0, let Sprint know. They'll also need the PN, RSSI numbers in Debug screen and street address.
I had this happen and they fixed it based on that info. |

| Ok thanks for the reply! My p.e.r. is jumping all over so I'll give sprint a call, hopefully I can get connected with someone that knows something and get this fixed... |

So I call sprint and spend 50 min with this lady that only has me run a speedtest twice and reset the timer on my 595u... then she tells me she made a report and if there were enough reports they would send someone out!!! That's all she said they could do?!? I told her about bad packets on debug screen and she had no idea and didn't know anyone she could connect me with that would... Anyone have a phone number to real tech support?? My speeds now all day have been worse then dialup
66kbps down 1080 latency
Thanks |

It must be my tower is screwed up and not my setup, when I drive 4 miles down the road I connect to another tower and have great speeds and latency...
Now how do I get them to fix this tower?? |

It could be the tower or it could be the signal you are getting from the tower. Low dBm does not necessarily translate into high speeds if you have excessive noise. Have you relocated the modem in various areas of your house? How about connecting/reconnecting until you get a different IP from the tower. Look at the Ec/Io and Received Signal Strength (not RSSI) in the debug screen, are those high? _________________ evdo-tips.com |
