|
|
I notice in the advanced setup of the mbr1000 that using a non-default modem script is available. What type of script would this be? Would a Mac Script that was installed by the Alltel Quicklink Moblile work? Or, are there others that might work with my Alltel um150?
Reason I ask is I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to help my upload speeds. Wondered if somehting like a different modem script (or anythign else if you know of something) might help my speeds. I'm averaging about 600kbps download (800-900kbps in off hours), but have never seen anything in the uploads average more than about 70kbps. I've tried the Mac Broadband optimizer, did see a bit of improvement on download only.
Thanks

I don't think dial scripts will help your upload speed. That's probably just a range limit. Have you moved closer to a tower to try and get them to go faster?
If they get faster as you get closer, which they should, it just means you're not getting signal back to the tower from your current location. |

| It does seem you're not getting a great signal. What is your RSSI? Have you considered an antenna? Your downloads should be better too. I'm averaging around 2.1mbps on a KPC680 (around 130kbps uploads which is about as good as it gets on Rev 0) and over 1mbps on my ppc6800 both with RSSI in the mid to upper -70dBm range. |

Because of "newly realized issues" my Mac doesn't fully support the um150 (details in this thread http://www.evdoforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=48445#48445) so, I don't know what the true RSSI might be, last i connected with teh Quicklink software it showed -125dbm, but with the issues I don't even know if that's correct. And I don't know of any way to check with the MBR1000
I'm going to try a manual update of my PRL, people I work with say with the correct PRL I should be able to roam to Sprint (which according to antennasearch.com, has a tower practically in my back yard). According to sprints site, evdo rev a is in my area, I'm guessing that if I'm roaming to sprint from Alltel I'll get Rev A?. According to a friend, my current PRL is for evdo phones not evdo aircard and doesn't support roaming to Sprint. Going on their word...
I suppose I'm going to have to figure out some antenna solution if that doesn't help. I've already got ~$380 in equipment just getting started. |
