|
|
Using firmware version 1.1.0, I tried to connect my UTStarcom PPC6700 in Tether mode which has a standard wireless modem config in Tether mode and wmodem (PocketPC software) however the router can't even determine a basic PocketPC WMODEM connection.
So not sure about other PPC modems, but since they all run basically the same software (WMODEM) to make the PPC phones into dumb serial ports, I was not able to get the router to work with the USB serial port of the PocketPC with the router.
I live in Canada and after reading about the support Cradlepoint offers from this site, I plunged in and bought myself a MBR1000 as previous routers are functional up here in Canada, thinking that they programmed the feature into their newest and greatest router.
However, au contraire, the MBR1000 currently does not work in Canada in tether mode (I have not tried any Data cards yet cause I would like to keep my PocketPC Phone with its Unlimited North America Data plan instead of using a Data Card which would render my PocketPC phone useless.) I will be taking the router to the Telus store to see if a data card would work with this unit. If it does then I would be caught in a dilemma.
I emailed Cradlepoint and offered my PPC 6700 for them to try and implement the unit for tether mode yet I got a refusal email saying that they will try to implement the Sprint PPC6700 unit first and then I could see if mine would work.
I just hope they can release a new firmware that will support the PPC6700 soon so that I can try out the tether mode. I also hope that if this did not work, I hope they will consider "borrowing" my PPC so that they can program it in. For now, they do not want to borrow it.
Well, I am patiently waiting for the next firmware update. |

Apparently you didn't notice that the Cradlepoint routers do not currently support any of the HTC devices? Many of us have been waiting for them to include support for our 6800's but I can certainly understand Cradlepoint NOT being in the business of taking in every individual's phone to "make it work" on their router.
Personally, I can't imagine buying a router that does not support my phone and then being upset with them because it doesn't work?
But then, that's just me . . . . . . |
