Just got the MBR1000 yesterday and spent the whole day trying to get it to connect with my AT&T DSL modem (Siemens SpeedStream 4100). I set the MBR1000 WAN port to PPPoE and used the same login and password as I had used on my previous router (Linksys WRT54G). No matter what I tried, the MBR1000 would not connect. In fact, it would lock up and would have to be unplugged to restart.

The MBR1000 does work fine with my U727 as long as the U727 is by itself. If both the U727 and the DSL modem are attached, the MBR1000 only works if the DSL modem is inactive (i.e. lower in priority on the Failover list). If I manually activate the DSL modem in the Failover menu or move it up on the priority list and reboot, the unit locks up. I've tried all 3 firmwares but no luck.

I have tried using the WRT54G as an intermediary, connecting the DSL modem to the WRT54G, then running a short ethernet cable from the WRT54G to the MBR1000's WAN port and setting the WAN port to DHCP. That works fine but kinda defeats the purpose of having one router handle everything.

Has anyone had any success connecting the MBR1000 (WAN port) to a DSL modem via PPPoE?

So you have a bridged DSL modem it sounds like and it requres you do PPP dialing behind it.

Ok, when you say "locks up" can you get some more description on that. Does the MBR1000 become unresponsive, are you unable to ping it? Do you have to hard reset it to get it to come back online.

By locks up, I mean I can no longer access the administrator control panel or even connect to the router by wifi. Also, the LAN and PWR lights turn on sequentially then turn off, then turn on again as if the router is in an endless loop. I have to unplug the unit and plug it back in with the DSL modem disconnected in order to be able to access the control panel again.
