I just purchased a WRT54G3G Router and a PC5750 Aircard. The aircard works great in the laptop. When trying to set up the router I get to the save config and it just sits there at 0% and does nothing. I tried accessing the router using 192.168.1.1 and it does not find the router. I have tried 2 different computers and still the same thing happens. 3Gstores pre loaded firmware 2.01.12. I am not this stupid. I don't know what I am doing wrong. PLEASE HELP |

In assume by 'save config' you using, the Linksys CD? If so pitch it.
You'll have to manual set your TCP/IP settings for you LAN network interface to 192.168.1.10 (or any 192.168.1.3-254 addy), 255.255.255.0 subnet mask, and gateway to 192.168.1.1. Use the cat5 patch cable from your Comp to the LAN port 1 on the router and then try to access the router via http://192.168.1.1
I haven't used a Linksys CD in years. I'd much rather perform the intial setup via the web GUI. _________________ A simple man. |

So here's a real newbe question: What are the correct settings in the web GUI?
I too eschew the setup wizards, and went straight for the GUI on my WRT54G3G-ST. The evdoforums review says "just plug in your Sprint EVDO card and turn it on and GO!", but mine won't connect to Sprint's network with my S620 or PX-500. The router correctly reports the aircard model, network, etc. But when tell it to connect it gives a pop up that says "Can not connect to Mobile Broadband server"
I've got Connection Type set to DHCP. It came with 2.00.9. I"ve flashed 2.01.12. No difference. I'm about to try OpenWRT, but I figure I'm just missing something basic. |

| Did you activate the card and does it work okay in a laptop? |

Oh yeah. Both cards are working fine in our laptops and desktop.
I had the S620 in the desktop, sharing it's connection. But with only Windows Firewall between me and the bad guys, I wanted to get back on a real router again. |

Oh well -- so much for the most basic question.
I have the Alltel version of the PX-500 (the PC5750) and use the WRT54G3G with the 2.00.9 firmware. I really did just plug the card in and it worked. Didn't touch any settings until I made sure it was working well then I configured security. So next most basic question: Did you try a reset to factory defaults?
Did you buy the router from 3Gstore? If you did -- call them -- their support is stellar. |

I'm running OpenWRT, r82 successfully. Results are in the OpenWRT forum.
Thanks for your help, all. |

I had the same symptoms as you with 2.01.12 and my PC5750. You're not doing anything wrong. You just need to re-flash to version 2.00.9 and everything will work as it should. |

No, you're not stupid. I have used the same setup for almost a year with the 2.00.9 firmware and it works like a champ. I tried the 2.01.12 firmware a couple of weeks ago and was not impressed. I don't know anyone yet that could access the Web GUI with the card plugged into the router. The 2.00.9 firmware is solid and can be easily found within this site. Good luck! |
