There maybe a slight slowness, not sure as it maybe tower congestion which occurs this time of the evening. Just did the following test. the ping was a bit high but good speeds for the distance. Didn't notice much of a lag. will keep testing this and in the morning as well to get a better determination. (still in WPA mode)
On edit... My neighbor now reports everything seems faster now (for him) that we are running in the WPA (AES) mode lol. go figure? |

I moved my 727 away from the router using a monstercable USB extender, thinking it cant be good to have it so close to the router's antennas after observing a slightly better signal from the side port than from the back. Then again, its is doubfull, but it might improve it.
CradlePoint + Starbucks makes for a very nice blend

Update: Today, I did a voltage test on the USB ports of the MBR-1000 while under load, and found that mine are both running a quarter volt too high!
For me, this is actually a blessing, as I was able to move the 727 to the PT Cruiser's center console via a 14 foot extension (two 7 foot monster extension cables ganged together). The voltage drop from the cables was .17 volts, still leaving me a ad high at 5.08 volts. Almost perrrfect!
Now I can easily unplug the 727 from the MBR-1000 (it is mounted on the rear hatch), and take it with me, or re-program it via the Sprint Connection Manager, without having to stop, or open the back hatch.

Just curious as to the statement of having to reprogram the 727 with the Connection Manager? By taking it out with you why would you have to reprogram it? |

If we are traveling long distance (my wife drives, I work), sometimes, to get EVDO, I have to unplug the 727 from the router, and change it from Sprint to Alltel when the automatic setting does not kick in correctly.
The router is mounted on the rear hatch of the PT cruiser, so before, we had to stop, unplug, reprogram, replug. By adding the extenson cables, now I just open the console, and unplug it.
Because of the great range of the MBR-1000, I hope I never have to carry it with me and use the PHS-300, but alas, I am sure there will be that one hotel (or whateveer) where the parking garage is 6 stories underground, and not even the MBR-1000 will be able to punch though.
Range Note: Lynda and I got "B" mode internet from the MBR-1000, to our Palm-TX's "across the parking lot, through two sets of doors, and down 16 booths" at a Denny's tonight. Then again, we had to "hold um high" a bit else we lost the signal. Even with a very low signal, it was darn fast! Better than any other 11 routers that we have.

yeah and that bowl of Clam Chowder is getting cold Joe! Something tells me I won't have any trouble recognizing you when you pull in!! Actually just look for the Chevy Truck with the roof mounted antenna and a "router rack" replacing the gun rack in the rear window lol!
Dave I agree. I want a first hand look though! |

Still digging into this thing slowly here. I did the 1.1.0 firmware update which added "Modem Info" under the Status tab. Now when I did the SGNL dance I had 4 bars yet the modem signal on the status page indicates 79%. The only thing I can think of is the 79% falls into the calibrated 4 bar level or the two are different readings and if so which one do you go by lol? Most likely the numerical reading. Never have trusted lights lol. I really think it's calibration, but not knowing what increments Cradle Point uses to set these, who knpws. amnway just another observation.
This thing just keeps performing away above my expectations. The firmware upgrade was a walk in the park and smooth!
