i have 5 phones 6000 minutes nights 7 pm unlimited mobil to mobil,long distance and text on 3 phones and an u720 evdo card all on sprint for around $400 per month so this new plan is not much of a deal for me.

It is not everything that the general public uses that are also interested in spending $100/month for a single mobile line.

As others have pointed out they really need to include PAM though it is good that BIS is included; did not expect it to be.

well the folks on here are not the general public. Most on here are what I would call specialty users.
Most people who benefit from this are your average family with one or more kids who text the crap out of everything, take pictures and send them. Just because it does not benefit a particular person or a group doesn't it make it wrong. There isn't a deal out there I couldn't pick apart in some way or another.
But I know a few fathers who are very happy with this deal because they were getting killed with multiple lines and overages.

Could be but a family with two kids would be paying $365/month on this plan + $20/month/device if anyone needed BES.

I agree it will be a good plan for very heavy voice users that also need SMS and on phone data. I guess I am thinking that, in general, these people will also be more likely than average to want to tether and use BB BES. That would be $120/month with no discounts. For me that would be the same as a non-promo plan of $153 (due to current EE discount). Plus PAM is that is really extra when you buy BES access.

Anyway, it is a good plan for some but I think they missed the mark if they really wanted to drive significant new revenue. That mark would be, IMO, $60 for unlimited voice and SMS/MMS with a $10 add on for on phone data.

-D

Ok, folks, spoon feed me here on this 'revolutionary' plan:

* I have a vanilla voice cell phone w/Sprint

* I have a separate(phone number) wireless internet card.

* Separate charges for both of the above.

So, is there anything 'new'(read cheaper) here for me? Any way to consolidate both of these numbers/uses into one, single bill of $100/month??

Doesn't look like so for my situation, but let me know if I'm missing something here.

Depends on your phone useage, thats what the plan is directed to. If your current plan is cheaper and you have no overages and plan on using the phone the same way you have, then no, the plan doesn't do anything for you.
The plans really targeted at families(or users) with multiple phones who are heavy voice/text/email users. Other then that it's no biggie.

I noticed that it said unlimited Sprint TV/Radio usage....there's lots and lots of channels that require a "$5 subscription here, a $10 subscription there"....if I have unlimited usage, does that mean that I can subscribe to everything, for free? If so, then this plan would truly be worth it, without the PAM option (that's my opinion anyway).

I wouldn't personally invest in this ((Employee Discount), at this moment has a large edge over it still), but I like that they gave their plan more options, for the same price--hopefully the price will slowly trickle down in the future.

Sprint is doing very poorly financially. I wonder if it'll be around, or at least stay independent, two or three years from now. What would happen to our EVDO plans if Sprint folds???

They may merge but they won't go away. They are a $40B for Fortune 50's company. They are bigger than Intel, Apple, Coca-Cola and Disney. Even if they lost several million more customers, Sprint would still likely be bigger than them.

They'll suffer CAPEX budget in near future to deploy new things (which is why they'll need outside investment to get WiMAX out the door) but they won't be going away anytime soon. See the car industry - suffering huge companies if anything simply become smaller or merge.

They could be bought by someone like SK Telcom or BT. Given the weak dollar, a foreign company just might be interested now that Sprint wrote off the Nextel merger value.

I'd be more worried about Verizon instead of Sprint if they continue the choke hold on their existing AND new customers. Sprint isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

With now just about everyone having a cell phone its going to be harder and harder to get new customers and Sprint will have to work harder and offer more to keep those that they have.

Price and customer service are going to be determining factors more than ever as coverage and connections are continuing to improve for all vendors. I know I am seeing better coverage with less drops and hope others are too.

This is a step in the right direction for Sprint, Now to see them get their customer service act together to stop frustrating people by staffing call centers with people who aren't knowledgeable and stores full of unhelpful counter staff who just stand around. Each time I go to a store I get frustrated by the long lines and the 10 workers, 3 helping, 7 standing around.

I hope they can turn things around. When it works, it works well, when it doesn't its an exercise in frustration to get results.

In Big Corporate America I reckon at any given moment you just have to choose from the lesser of the evils available lol.Wink

That being said they (both providers) need to send their folks to the 3G Store for training in quality customer care, service and PR eh? Smile My experience establishing (changing) new service through them was a walk in the park and left the evil ones out LOL! It was too easy and effective and even fun!

If this company can have these prices why can't the big company's? I realize it is not nation wide so does not work for everybody but I agree that sprint should come close to this company or atleast there family plan is 20 for each additional phone and is still unlimited. That is why this company is growing so fast in the major metro area's.

Here are there plan prices and what is included.
