|
|
CALL SPRINT ASAP TO REPORT THE HIGH PINGS WE HAVE BEEN GETTING!!! I just got off the phone with a Sprint tech and he said they haven't had any reports of any problems in the Midwest. Mainly lower MI and northern IL, IN, and OH. Even though this has been going on for the last month and a half from about 7pm to about 3am for alot of people in this area. He did say that they tag the Sprint website every time they get a report of a problem and after so many tags they look into the problem closer. He also said that it could mean they need to install more towers in this area. So, all I am asking is everyone that has been getting the high pings after 7pm to call Sprint and report it. Then maybe they could fix the problem. Also, if you run a trace route at the times of the high pings you will see that the problem is the Sprint backbone. I use the trace route at www.pcpitstop.com. Thanks everyone. Here is a pic of the trace route at 4:20 today. http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s37/majaybrey/picoftracerouteat420pmWedthe27th.jpg Then later tonight I will post another pic of the trace route when the pings go through the roof. Also, if it isn't a big thing for the admins, could we please keep this post in the top 10 of this forum so as many people as possible can see this. Thanks again. |

| I've been experiencing this in central MN for a few weeks now. I was already planning to give them a call and let them know that their service is having issues during prime time. |

i agree, this is getting ridiculous..
as of 1.5 months ago or so i would always have 90ms to first jump ping times.
now off and on throughout the day/night its not surprising to see myself getting 700-1500ms pings
starting to get irritated.. this is one of the reasons i switched from cingular over to sprint.. cingular hadn't updated i guess and was still running around the 400-500ms pings where sprint was 90's..
in missouri here kc side. |

Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 74ms, Maximum = 108ms, Average = 90ms
Using KC HA. But granted, I live near a tower. |

I can tell you that if there is a problem the more that report it the faster it will get fixed.
We experienced a problem last year and after we contacted some people pretty high up the food chain at Sprint, they informed me that 50 people already reported the problem - so they do prioritize issues based on the number of people that report a particular problem. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

As more and more war game players, Slingbox users, VOIP users and so on join Sprint, the service will deteriorate in areas where there are a lot of such users.
Think of the roads at the morning and evening rush hours and how traffic congestion slows every one down. This is what is happening during the peak EVDO use hours. The more people online, the slower the service.
If you are sharing your connection with a router, you are also slowing yourself down especially at those moments when everyone on the router wants bandwidth. Then everything will be factored by the number of people using the connection.
Bandwidth like oil is a resource. The more you consume the less there will be available. |

that doesnt get Spring off the hook, really.
other types of internet provider dont usually have problems like this (maybe Satellite) because when their network gets saturated, they *expand* it. If a cable company had problems like this happening routinely, they'd lose customers. The only reason Spring isnt losing customers in droves, honestly, is because a lot of us that use EVDO use it because it is the only thing available.
They know they have a captive subscriber base, so they drag their feet on upgrading their capacity to drag the last penny of profit out of the subscribers.
its a terrible business practice but it will never end in this day and age of Corporate Profit mentality, where *anything* is acceptable to sacrifice for short-term profit, even the long term viability of the company. |

I use a switch. A switch is the best device to use for gaming becuse the information is sent just to the port it needs to go. Where a router sends the info to all ports on the router. As of right now my pings are still holding in the low 100's right now and it is 8:42. Usually by now my pings are through the roof. Maybe since I posted this enough people has called Sprint and complanined and they might of figgured it out. Hopefully!! |
