signal question

Does anyone know if the tower antennas for evdo signal and regular cell phone signal are the same. My signal in the last few days has faded badly from low -80s to about -100/105. I have a wilson yagi and wilson omni outside that i use and my signal stays the same whether I use the internal antenna or the external one. When I hook up my pnone to the yagi im getting low -80s but my phone does not do evdo just digital, so im trying to figure out if my card is toasted or its tower problems. I have even tried climbing on the roof in Michigans wonderful winter weather with the laptop to hook the card and phone up directly to the antenna to see if it was cable problems. Also drove to about 1/4 mile of tower and had -77 with the internal antenna.
