|
|
| purchased a crdlepoint mbr 1000 and Sprint card U727. While playing online games such as world of warcraft experiencing major spikes from high speed signal to so slow its worse than phone modem. Have swithced between automatic and EVDO only modes on sprint card with no discernable diferences. I have a booster antenae attached to the Sprint card. Any suggestions? |

| Sounds like a possible signal issue. Have you tried moving your antenna around to different locations? Many have reported major differences with moving the antenna/device as little just a couple of feet. Just takes trial and error and remember as you move it around it takes a few minutes for the signal to stabilize at each new location. |

| I haven't moved the antenna but the signal is always 4 or 5 bars. How can you have such fluctuations in broadband speed when the signal is always strong? |

What is your RSSI? (ie. -65dBm, etc.) The signal bars aren't always the best indicators for your reception.
Are you experiencing the same fluctuations on other sites? |

| How do you check RSSI? Fluctuations do occur on other sites but the effects are not quite as noticible. |

Hover your mouse over the "Go" button on the SCM. That should give you what signal is available to you as well as the strength of the signal in dBm.
Also, have you run any speed tests?
Try at http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ and www.speedtest.net and see what you get as well as finding out what your latency is. I think your problem gaming could be more latency related than just speed. If that's the case then one of the many gaming experts on here could probably help more than I can.
Check latency by opening the command prompt and typing:
ping www.google.com
(Be sure to include the space above.) |
