I've gone through the steps on the quickstart guide 3 or 4 times now. I'm trying to connect via lan until my PCI aircard arrives. I don't even know where to start on what's not working.
Can't even get to the firware update page...none of the links on the Tools page are active, once you navigate to that page absolutely nothing on the page is a working link, the only link highlighted is teh admin link at the top.
I've tried the factory reset as prescribed in teh 3gstore tips PDF. I don't have any idea if that worked, I didn't see the light come on off then back on again.
I'm sure the 3g store support is great but I'm not sure when I'm going to have a day when my schedule will allow me to call them when they are open and for some reason I'm not allowed to login to the customer support area though I bought the product from them.
Basically right now I've got a $250 paperweight with pretty flashing lights and antennas.
Anyone able to assist?
Thanks

What Mac are you using? What web browser are you using? What version of the web browser is it, exactly? (check under first menu for 'about x')

look under your apple menu for "about this mac" and tell us what version of Mac OS you are using (its likely to be 10.x.x)

Were you trying to connect to MBR1000 via Airport/WiFi or ethernet cable?

What EVDO device are you trying to use with the MBR1000, and have you connected to the web using your EVDO device directly attached to your Mac already?

with the answers to ALL the above, ONE of us on the forum can narrow down whats going wrong here.

Mac G4 Mirror Dual Door, dual 867mhz proccessors. OS X 10.3.9
Used Safari, Camino and Firefox
Trying to connect via ethernet for now, wireless later.
Using an Alltel um150, currently connect to web with this but there are newly discovered issues with it's connection to non bluetooth enabled macs.

ok. OSX panther. i don't have it installed on any of my 11 macs, so i'll borrow some screenshots found elsewhere.

first, connect your UM150 to one of the USB ports on MBR1000, and eventually your 'MDM' light on front of the MBR1000 should be a stable green. if not, we'll need to update firmware, later.

Next, ensure your ethernet cable is connected from G4's port to one of the 4 yellow LAN ports on back of MBR1000.

Next, go to network pane of system preferences.

Apple Menu > System Preferences

then click on "Network" icon:

You should see this. (keep messing with pulldowns until you do)

Make sure that Built-In Ethernet is an active option, and that it says you are connected to the internet and have an IP address of 192.168.0.xxx

Close System Prefs window and click OK to save prefs if asked.

Now, bring up Firefox browser window, and go type this as your web desitination: http://192.168.0.1

When you get to the right page, it is a web form asking for the admin password, the last 6 characters of MAC address, in all lower case.

If successfully past that form, you will see the status page of web admin.

stop at this point, because you should be allowed to surf.

do not close admin window. open a NEW browser window, and see if you are able to surf your favorite website: http://www.EVDOinfo.com

i'll stop here, because so many things could have gone wrong, and what/where will determine how best to answer.

So if this did NOT work, try to tell me exactly where you could not go further, and why you think thats so.

good luck.

Thanks Alex, those are the steps I had gone through pretty much exactly.
I repaired disk permissions, updated my firefox browser, went through the steps again and now everything is working, the links for firmware and everything work now.
Hate it when I "spaz out" without doing the usual mac fixes. Everyrthing seems to be working and I'm connected at five time what I was with it connected directly to the Mac. When I get my wireless card I'm hoping I'll be able to "untether" myself and move the router to a location I was getting 1.7Mb speeds connected to a PC laptop.

Big thanks
Jeff

Should have specified my "PCI wireless Adapter", I've got a um150 from alltel. I only ordered the mbr1000 router from you guys.

Thanks again for the help.

It is important to do the Permission Repairs after every software update. Doing this automatically will avoid many problems experienced by those who don't.

Apple constantly changes permission settings with every OS update so it is important to use the Disk Utility installed or updated with that update.

Software updates seem to set their permissions for the System Version they are using and so they can reset permissions to those in effect months or years ago. For instance, the company may have used 10.3 and you are using 10.5.2.

Apple has changed the display of Disk Utility and it no longer shows the 100 changes it makes... Rolling Eyes
