Has anyone had any success with the AT&T Sierra Lightning (USB 305) and any of the cradlepoint routers?
Thanks |

Sorry for the delayed response - rwithers, we have heard some customer reports that the Lightning works with the MBR1000. We will be testing it ourselves in the coming week and will post our findings here. |

| An important note about tethering phones w/ Cradlepoint routers: remember that whether your phone is supported or not, you MUST have the "real" tethering/phone-as-modem plan from your carrier active on your phone in order to use it with a router! If you are using a "hack" or any third-party software to tether your phone to your computer, it will NOT work with a router (even if your phone is officially supported by Cradlepoint). |

I just confirmed:
HTC TyTn II / Kaiser / AT&T Tilt with CTR500
- Inserted SIM
- Connected 3G (MediaNet)
- Plugged into CTR500
- Presto! |

I had to drop Verizon because of their unreliable signal around here.
I got the cheap Pantech card from US Cellular, unplugged the Verizon Pantech card, plugged in the US Cellular Pantech card to my MBR1000 and was up and running at 1.4 Mbps down, 660 kbps down. So nice after a year and a half of arguing with Verizon about their variable signal strength!
A neighbor, seeing my success took his Verizon card back, got the more expensive Kyocera data card from US Cellular. He picked up an MBR1000 and is happy as can be!
Several other neighbors have seen this and dropped Verizon for US Cellular, but they don't have routers.
Hey EVDO Forums, when are you going to include US Cellular's EVDO? |

Any update on this? AT&T is/has discontinued the Mercury card in my area, they are only willing to offer the Lightning (from what I have read it is a substantially better card).
When I contacted Cradlepoint to ask they gave their usual canned answer of "not at this time, but maybe in 3-6 months..." |

While not officially supported by Cradlepoint, in 3Gstore's tests the AT&T Lightning worked successfully with the MBR1000 running firmware version 1.6.7.
Since it is not officially supported, we can't guarantee that it will work for all users, but we do offer technical support and a 14-day return policy - worth giving it a shot! |

Actually that isn't always true. I have a Blackberry Bold 9000 with AT&T that has no official tethering option on the plan, and I use the wap.cingular APN and it works quite well with my CTR350. Sometimes I have issues getting connected, but when it connects (most of the time) it works like a champ. I'm posting this from it now..
Also, I have attached my CTR350 via a Samsung made USB cable to my son's Samsung Propel (A676) phone, which also has no tethering option on the plan, and it works like a champ every time!
Just an FYI..
