I recently got the MBR1000, and I'm trying to connect with a KPC680. However, my KPC680 is through Nex-tech Wireless. They are a small independent company that roams on sprint (www.nex-techwireless.com). The tech guy at Nex-Tech told me that the KPC680 is using a generic driver, and probably isn't compatible with the MBR1000. Both 3GStore and Cradlepoint tech support told me the same thing.
Basically my router and my KPC680 can't communicate with each other. Does anybody have any ideas? |

nice title. for the record, i'm sure nobody at 3gstore nor cradlepoint guaranteed the mbr1000 was GOING to work.
lets try something basic. does your kpc680 work attached/inserted in your laptop/computer? if it doesn't work there, it ain't working on any router.
if the kpc680 does work on your computer, its probably time to do an RMA. |

I agree with Alex in trying in the computer first. Good old common sense process of elimination.
I also agree the title is not real swift lol. I've never know the folks at 3G to give up on anyone. Rather the other way around. One thing to point out is as good as the folks at 3G are they cannot control the manufacturers or their products and carriers. They definitely have influence for sure. If the above suggestions fails then I agree, time for an RMA. it wouldn't be the first time something has not worked out of the box. I speak from experience. Throwing in a 3rd factor of nex-techwireless doesn't help either. Could be a couple different issues. I'm not a huge fan of anything Kyocera makes for broadband anyway since they left a bunch of us KR1 owners in left field all by ourselves. |

I have 3 KPC680's and they all work in my laptop, but all 3 don't work when I put them in the router.
I don't mean to bad mouth 3GStore. The fact is that after hours of work, they finally told me there was nothing more they could do for me. Cradlepoint told me point blank that they weren't going to help me, since my KPC680 with Nex-tech Wireless isn't a supported device. I did appreciate all the effort 3Gstore put into trying to help me. They didn't give up with out a fight. |

| By the way, the KPC680's also don't work in my CTR350. |

Nathan,
I was very involved with your call from yesterday and saw it more as a challenge than anything. One of my technicians contacted me RE: your issue and gave me all the information that I needed to research your issue. As others have stated to you, regardless of the fact that even the manufacturer never displayed that this card combined with a (Nex Tech service) would work. Honestly, I have no idea why you would want to invest so much in a product that has absolutely no promise of working.
We did several hours of research regardless and even contacted this Nex Tech Wireless company (Honestly the first time any of us has even heard of this outfit) It almost reminds me of getting a call one time from some third world country that wanted us to provide them a card that worked in their area as well as a router. The chances of it happening were absolutely impossible. I would say that this is similar to your situation.
In defense of CradlePoint, a US based router company has to pay close attention to research and development costs unlike these companies that just push out routers. CradlePoint will find which devices are going to be in high demand for compatibility and then spend the money on the development to make it happen. I highly doubt that Nex Tech is even on their radar let alone the firmware version on your card being compatible any time soon.
As Alex suggested and as I know you have already requested, an RMA is definitely in order here.
We appreciate your business and our support department appreciates you throwing us the challenge, however even 3Gstore can not be miracle workers and make something that will never work, work;-) _________________ - Victor |

The only reason I'm trying so hard to get this card to work is because it is the only card Nex-tech offers, Nex-tech is the only company with EVDO coverage in my area, and I have no other options.
Would a KR2 have any chance of working with my cards? |

Just a thought, if nex-tech is roaming on sprint why not get a sprint card? |

Let's see if White Russian can help us out on this one. Get RangerW in the loop and let's see if we can mod the 'ware to work with the card.
I know, the router stinks like month old diapers, but it might be his only hope. |

That's what I was thinking. Your best bet is probably the Linksys WRT54G3G-ST and the WhiteRussian firmware. |

This: http://www.evdoforums.com/thread6621.html
RangerW took a Linksys router built for EVDO service that did not perform worth a hill of beans, flashed it with modified White Russian firmware, turning it into a champion that works with almost all EVDO services on the market.
It might need modifying since I don't think his card has been tested with it yet. 3Gstore, you guys up to tinkering with Open Source to help out? |

Nathan, how is it that only Nex-tech offers service if they're roaming on the Sprint network. It strikes me that if the Sprint Network is available, Sprint service would be too???

Might it work with a KR1? I thought they added KPC680 support in the latest firmware (and a PCMCIA to express card adapter).
The linux kernel is generally far less picky about devices. |
