Hello, I have a Sony SZ680 with built in Novatel Expedite EVDO WWAN running Vista Business. I signed up for service a week ago and have been having the same problem the entire time. Here are some symptoms:

- I can establish a connection using the SmartWi Application and Vista says i have Local and Internet connectivity
- I cannot ping or resolve DNS.
- My default gateway appears as 0.0.0.0 (This looks like the problem to me!)
- Assigned IP is 68.24.171.153

I spoke with several technicians at Sony and they did the standard troubleshooting, with no resolution. I'm about to call Sprint, but i figured i'd seek out some more info.

any help is appreciated. btw, I am a bit of a power user, and did alot of installing and uninstalling of various applications since the purchase of this machine, and I am considering some sort of software conflict.

Sprint blocks ICMP to their DNS servers. You won't be able to ping anything except the gateway address. Your local gateway may show a null value for the address because the HA is handing your traffic to a specific PDSN which routes traffic to the correct destination.

Thanks for the info.

Just to clarify, I cannot ping, resolve dns, or recieve any other data via internet explorer or anything else. So, while it says that i'm connected, i can't receive anything.

I have a TZ150N/B with the exact same issues, network connectivity appears ok , ip address is assigned , but cannot resolve or ping anything.

Having talked to Sony and Sprint and done all thier troubleshooting including a full system restore. Still no resolution ..

Anyone else have any luck ?

I uninstalled WebRoot, and Norton, and SmartWi , re installed SmartWi and The Novatel driver from the Vaio Recovery , Rebootted , Updated the Data Profile , and it worked.

Getting ready to re install WebRoot and a differnt FW package.

Hope this Helps
