In the Status page for the CTR 350 there is something called turbo mode. Its disabled for me right now. What does it do and how do you activate it? FYI using the CTR 350 with the KPC680 on Alltel.

Thanks
Ron

Don't quote me on this, but I think that this corresponds to the Super G Mode enable box on the Basic -> Wireless page.

I believe that these are usually proprietary technologies for achieving speeds higher then the standard 54Mbps. I think you can only use Super G if ALL of you network hardware supports it, and I believe that its typically manufacturer specific. So if you have a Linksys router with some sort of "Super G" functionality then you'd have to have Linksys "Super G" network cards as well. I think the terminology also varies by manufacturer.

My Trendnet network cards can supposedly do 108Mbps, but I'd need a Trendnet router to take advantage of the capability. I tried enabling the function on my CTR350 just for kicks, and I wound up locking myself out of the router. I had to reset the router back to its defaults.

It's not just your equipment that has to be compatible.
If any WiFi signal on any channel can be heard by the router, they are supposed to drop out of the channel bonding mode.
So, in reality, it's very hard to keep this operational.

In additional to all of that, I don't think that Cradlepoint even makes any sort of network adapters. So, the functionality seems to be pretty useless when all is said and done. I don't really understand why it's even included in any of the router menus, unless they've intended the function to be used with some other, unnamed manufacturer's hardware.

So I decided to try the turbo mode. I have a Toshiba p15-s409 laptop with a built in Atheros AR5001x A/B/G wireless card.

I am currently connected at 108Mbps to my CTR-350, so apparently turbo does work on some cards...I can also still connect with my old Wireless B notebook, without it dropping the turbo connection.

Yeah, some 802.11 g cards support it. It's just a way to further slice up the bandwidth so you can stuff more bits into it.

It's a good item for LAN to LAN transfers of files as it will likely help your speeds.
