|
|
When I disconnect, to go off line for a while, then try to connect again,
the initialization will often seem to hang and never connect.
This is inconsistent behavior, as sometimes it will initialize and connect, with no problem, after being disconnected for a while.
When it hangs, I have to either un-plug and re-install or run the wizrd, or re-boot the laptop.
This is on a Toshiba laptop, and VZW updates are set for daily
I can find no reason for this behavior, unless there is something that powers off the USB.
I have all power management functions disabled on the laptop and VZ Access Manager.
Any ideas? |

| I experience a similar problem and use the same modem on my HP Vista laptop. Most of the time, when coming up from system standby the modem will not initialize and I end up having to reboot Vista. |

| I experience the same problem with my usb720 and Toshiba laptop using Windows XP. I use a Siig brand switch between the laptop and the modem to cut down on the unplugging of the usb720. |

I have a USB720 EVDO from verizon, model expd ev720, firmware version m6800A-RAPTOR_VZW-134 [Oct 09 2006 09:29:13]
ESN 091-04044663 (5B3DB777)
PRL version 51018
ERI version 4
And running VZAccess manager
version 6.7.1 (2044c)
Every time my laptop (acer aspire 7520-5823) goes to sleep, hibernates, goes into standby, etc. it disconnects and will NOT reconnect until I restart vista. I am using 32-bit vista on an AMD Turion 64x2 mobile technology TL-58, @ 1.9 GHz. I have 2047 MB ram, and the system is activated.
Is there any way to fix this? |

do you disconnect before setting it to sleep or hibernate?
have you tried dumping the vzaccess manager and just using it as a dial up modem?
just use the built in dial up manager, point it at the 720. dial "#777" (no quotes but include the # sign), no name, no password.
even if it doesnt fix the sleep problem, it connects in like 2 seconds rather than like 10 for the vzaccess manager. |

| After many calls into Verizon and months of rebooting a coworker and I finally found a fix. Open Verizon Access Manager. Select Tools>Preferences>WWAN tab>make sure that NDIS Mode check box is checked. That should fix it. |
