|
|
I upgraded to the latest firmware yesterday (2.01.12) and the following issues immediately started:
1. WAN failover feature now broken. The EVDO card dials up immediately even with the wired WAN connection active.
2. The router web interface is unreachable with the EVDO card plugged in. As soon as you remove the card, you can get to it again.
I am using a Verizon 5750 card. Previous 2.09 firmware worked fine
Luckily someone here pointed me back to Sprint's web site and I found the previous firmware and reflashed the router, so it is working again.
How can Linksys release firmware like this and then state in the release notes there are no known issues with the device? |

The fastest way is by not testing the code changes Take a look at the last few days of Dilbert for a funny take on it. |

I can't test failover, but I can definitely get to the router setup pages with the card in there.
Did you reset everything to default values before/after flashing to the new version? I suppose you could do it with either the admin function or the 30 sec reset.
Back when I used dd-wrt on my routers they would encourage this to make sure *everything* was wiped clean lest an old/moved setting be in there to monkey with things. _________________ --Larry |

You using VZW or Sprint Llama? May be a protection deal so to discourage VZW card use in the ST. I'm experiancing the same problem with my newest WRT54G3G-ST and my VZW card. My original WRT54G3G-ST never had this issue with the same card/cards. _________________ A simple man. |

Sprint with S720 card.
I am puzzled by the erratic install reports, but it also appears that very few people have installed it despite how many attend the upload problem threads. _________________ --Larry |

Software is software and subject to one tiny nick on a bit to corrupt it.
Sometimes re-downloading an updater makes all the problems go away. Sometimes it don't.
Even a pencil point can be broken. |

| Or else it's those dastardly FlashRAM chips they are putting in the units. From what i've read on the linksys forums, there are at least 4 different models from 4 different companies going into the routers. They are SUPPOSED to be performing the same functions at the same level of performance, but are really not doing so considering the erratic success/failure reports coming in. This tells me that these routers are being made at least two different locales and they are taking liberties with the chips on hand, probably without linksys knowing. |

Thank would make sense and fits in with the erratic performance of this unit in general. Some have had trouble getting/staying online for minutes or hours at a time, while others like me can stay online for months at a time.
DirecTV did something similar where each vendor appears to have been able to tweak the units to suit their price point/parts in stock while offering *similar* features/functionality. As such there are around 6 different HD DVRs in the field at the same time, each with a different version of the DVR OS running on it...
Of course in that case at least DirecTV had the decency to identify the manufacturer by giving them a different sub model number. _________________ --Larry |
