Verrrry tempting. But how is it as a game player? And what's with the "up to 3.7 hours" battery life?

Battery life doesn't look great. I've played with this phone though, very cool. I'd dump my Treo 650 for one if the battery life were as good.

Looks like EVDO test results are already getting posted for this phone...

EDIT: no longer up.

Here's a good thread on the 6700. Shows pics in comparison to Treo 650 and also pics using extended battery.

I pasted all of the 6700 entries into a spreadsheet from...

http://www.broadbandreports.com/mspeed?results=1

There were 172 6700 entries at the time I pasted.

- About 20 entries were below 100Kbits/sec, meaning these are probably 1xRTT people not able to get EVDO.

- About 90% of tests were apparently EVDO (over 110K).

- The average including 1xRTT and EVDO is 386Kbits/sec.

- The average of EVDO only enteries is 450Kbits/sec.

- Peak is about 1MB/sec.

- 33% of tests got over 600Kbits/sec.

what the heck is wrong with verizon. They come out with the vx9800 when sprint comes out with the 6700. I would switch to sprint in a second if the stupid company had evdo in the largest city in the USA. Sprint has always been a horrible company...their footprint is so far behind Verizon that I can't see how anybody could consider them unless they just had to have this phone.

Nice phone. Wish it worked with Verizon.

Every carrier has its good and bad points. And with all these mergers taking place not many choices are left in wireless carriers anymore. Sprint is not a horrible company just misguided to the market trends is what I see at times.

Yes you can tether via a cable and Sprint has said an update firmware will add a BT DUN profile to the 6700 also. With the cable side you would get regular EVDO speed thru the tether, but with it being BT 1.x it would be cut down about 25% with a BT tether. The 6700 also supports WiFi I wonder if anyone has tried to WiFi tether thru the 6700 yet?

Actually sprint has more cdma towers as of this year. sprint has 24k+ towers and will be adding 14k more cdma sites on nextel sites. verizon has 23k+ sites adding only 1-2k/year.

but one will have better coverage than other depending on market.

Here's a link to the best review I've found so far:

http://www.mobiletechreview.com/Sprint-PPC-6700.htm

This looks like the best EVDO-capable phone available from Sprint. I think I'm gonna jump on it.

Actually, according to the Business Sales rep I spoke with this morning, the XV6700 will be out shortly, but he stated that they usually don't find out until the day it is released. He said that they were given a demo of the device last week in order to become acclimated with it.

That's more than I can say for Sprint, since most of their techs say they hadn't even seen the device before Sprint rushed it to the market to beat Verizon.

All I know is that it's coming. Howard Forums and PDAphonehome have great forums about Verizon's release of this phone.
