VZaccess error 711 using PC5740

I've had good luck for ages using my VZaccess card, but today after doing some other fooling around on my Thinkpad X61 running XP I got a "711" error.

Vzaccess loads, and will run Wi-fi. The program identifies my card, and with Wifi disabled was able to update the network (is that the message).

But it won't show the EVDO card as an option and I get a
"711" error. I've enabled telephony in services.msc and updated to the latest veresion (3.13) of Vzaccess.

Any suggestions? I'm online now only at he mercy of a local coffee shop.

Like a lot of problems that are resolved after HOURS of mucking around, I'm not sure why Vzaccess is working -- I mostly turned on many of the services i had disabled in services.msc (to make the machine faster).

Turning on the services and starting them within services.msc wasn't enough -- I had to reboot.
