I received my CradlePoint CTR-350 router a couple of days ago, connected it to my Linksys router, plugged in the Verizon UM150 USB modem, and within a few minutes was surfing. My home network consists of one wireless and two wired computers.
I live 90 miles West of Washington, DC in the Shenandoah Valley, in an area where no cable or DSL is available. I was forced to use a satellite connection which was unreliable at best. The advertized bandwidth was 1500K but rarely did I see 600K or more and the ping was 900ms.
I logged onto PCPitstop to check out the connection and am very happy with the 1250K down and 256K up bandwidth with a ping of 176 or less.
I do have a couple of questions though, should I turn off the UM150 when I'm gone and is there any software available that monitors my download volumn? Verizion limits the downloads/month to 5Gb.
