Hello there,
I just received my UTStarcom UM150 from Alltel, after being assured by their sales people that I would be able to use the current router I have to distribute internet throughout my house. I need this internet connection to server one primary desktop, with another desktop and one laptop. I would probably be able to wire both the Desktops with ethernet cords, but I need a router. They informed me over the phone that they do not currently have any that could assist me, so i was looking into these cradlepoint routers and wondering which one would be the best for this situation. Is there 2 ethernet ports on the cradlepoint routers, and will it diminish my connection speed to my primary PC if I'm going to be using one. Being able to network this internet connection is of upmost imoportance, and any feedback would be greatly appreciated. |

Don't you love these folks! Technically you can with ICS but what a pain! Note to Alltel: it's really time for you to get with the 3Gstore folks, but I digress...
Sounds to me like you should wait a few more days for the new CradlePoint router (MBR1000) since it has multiple ethernet ports (the CTR350 is very nice but only has one ethernet port).

If other folks in your household are online via the router at the same time it will diminish the available throughput on your primary PC somewhat. How much depends on what everyone is doing. If you're all browsing the 'net, probably not much. If you're all trying to watch videos, that could be a problem. However, the router has settings that allow you to prioritize your primary PC by restricting the others. |
