|
|
Hello,
MB6800 works OK by itself. A wireless-enabled laptop can access
the MB6800 configuration page and view and change settings.
So far, so good.
However the MB6800 tries repeatedly to connect to the Internet
via Sprint, and fails every time. The card is Sierra Wireless AirCard 595.
The event log shown on the configuration page seems to show
that the MB6800 gets most of the way through the connection
process and then pppd fails with "NO CARRIER".
I've appended a copy of the event log for reference.
I called TopGlobal tech support and they recommended
upgrading the firmware. I upgraded the firmware from 1.1.2 to 1.1.4
and the MB6800 works the same as before -- same error from pppd.
TopGlobal tech support also told me to reset the router to
factory default settings -- same error.
The MB6800 was working OK before with a Cingular card.
We switch from Cingular to Sprint and now I'm getting this error.
Thanks for any advice.

PS. Copy of event log showing that it gets partway through the
connection process but then pppd complains "NO CARRIER".

Yes, I tried the card in a laptop and it works OK.
By the way, the model is AC595, not AC595U, i.e. it is a PCMCIA card and not a USB card.
Thanks for your help. |

I have a MB6800 with the Novatel Merlin EX720 ExpressCard using Sprint. I consistently have the same problem during evenings and some weekend days; the log file shows "connection reset by peer", which means it wasn't my equipment that reset it. This also happens when I connect the card directly to my notebook computer. However, after midnight I consistently get a solid, over 1Mbps connection, especially since I changed my HA to Kansas City.
From this behavior I conclude that Sprint is kicking people off their network during peak times, although I don't know for sure. Therefore, the disconnections you're experiencing may not be your equipment's fault. _________________ José |

| Good news ... The router is connecting successfully to Sprint now. Not sure what changed to make it start working, but, I'm guessing, maybe it was by plugging the Sierra AC into a laptop, configuring it to work with the laptop, and then plugging it back into the router. Maybe that somehow changed the card's configuration. Anyway I'm just happy it is working now. |
