What now? I'm staying mostly in 1x, but occasional DO. Tech says he will ask that tower be boosted since i'm 2.27 miles away and no good signal. What do you think? What can I do? Will they really check the tower? Thanks!

They may check the tower but I would seriously be surprised if they were to "boost" the tower. If the tower you're 2.27 miles from has EVDO then there's either one of two problems. Your card is bad. Certainly wouldn't be the first time for that either. Or there's a tower problem.

If I was a betting man (which I actually am but that's a whole nuther forum . . . ) I'd bet the tower you're closest to only has 1x or it's a Verizon tower. (Which Alltel will only roam on at 1x) Since you're seeing EVDO periodically I'd guess that's the problem.

I could be wrong though . . . . . . . . .

Check your PM when you get a chance.

What is your signal strength? If your signal strength is low, an external antenna or an amp might help.

If you have a laptop or access to one, you could try driving around and see if you get a better signal. Also, try different locations inside your house. Believe it or not, I get a way better signal in one window versus a window in the room right next to it.
