My thoughts exactly. I'm already a little uncomfortable with working on the insides of my MBPro... I'll need a magnifying glass & tweezers to work on a MBA. Shocked

The perfect tool (Tweezers + Magnifying Glass Combo):

Here are some tear downs for investigation of the BlueTooth Question:

Watch for the battery and see why it is not 'user replaceable'...

I have no idea what the bluetooth module looks like...

I'm using a Verizon V740 Rev. A Express Card in the USB Express Card adapter. Connected adapter using a 3 inch USB extension cable commonly shipped with some USB memory/flash drives. Working like a charm. Loving my MacBook Air that much more. Obviously no issues plugging in since I'm using a standard USB plug.

I have my MBA working with my X720 on Bell up here in Toronto.

Works flawlessly.

Nice for when I am traveling, but looking to get a Router for home and travel...

... off to hunt now.

I just got a Sierra 595u to replace my year-old S720 PC Card. The 595u works perfectly in my MB Air, and I prefer the built-in swivel jack instead of having a huge device stick 5 inches straight out to the side.

There are no clearance problems whatsoever with the Air and the 595u...

I got the Sprint - Novatel U727, and after activating, tried to follow the directions from the file on the CD that came with it in order to get online. One word of caution: DON'T! The instructions on there are completely wrong. Go to the Sprint site, download the latest version, and that will work just fine. What a PITA!

Orbital...

What network are you using your 595U on? How do you do the setup to work with the MBA: internal configuration or vendor software?

Thanks.

Or anybody....

I have a 595U on order from Verizon. Their Web site says it's for XP and Vista; no mention of Mac. How do I make it do its thing on the MBA when it arrives? (I do have PC laptops available to do the initial setup/activation if necessary.)

You will need to activate it first "manually" via PC, then after it is activated, you can use it in the mac. The automatic activation process on the mb air does not seem to be compliant.

If your modem doesn't allow activation on a Mac, you can use XP or Vista running under Boot Camp, Parallel or Fusion. I prefer Boot Camp since XP runs natively and is much faster and cleaner than the emulation of Parallel or Fusion.

Boot Camp does require booting into Windows which Parallel and Fusion do not and thus allow running both OS X and XP/Vista at the same time but slower for Windows.

I did the activation on a PC, then installed Verizon's software (VZ Access Manager) on the MBA. It's working fine, and I highly recommend it. It fits nicely into the USB socket. The only limitation is that the range of motion of the swivel is restricted when the MBA is on a flat surface, but that has not hurt my connectivity.
