I ordered a CTR350 from 3GStore and it came in on Tuesday. Used to run a KR1+KPC680 combination, but my KR1 died during a lightning storm.
I honestly have to say... if I knew that the CTR350 would perform this well, I would've ordered it the day it came out. It has ran flawlessly since Tuesday and has served my LAN with 1+mbit service the entire time (I used to average around 800kbit with the KR1).
I'm using the LAN port on the CTR350 and have it connected to my switch. The 1.7.3 firmware provides this functionality and is currently only available through 3GStore.
The only thing I'd like to see in a future firmware release is the option to disable the 802.11 wireless in the unit. I'm using a WAP54GX access point, which has an incredible range.
Thanks 3GStore! |

Well I e-mailed CradlePoint right after I posted the above post. I e-mailed them about disabling the 802.11 feature and Daryl at CP just e-mailed me back.
"That function is planned to be released with our next firmware update.

Yeah, there were some threads on this a little bit back. The feature to turn off wireless was in the firmware a while ago, like pre 1.6.0 release firmware, and it was taken out since Wireless was you're only way to get to the CTR's config pages.
But with LAN functionality, it'll be great to get it back. |

Lord Flux (great user name byt the way)
Read your posting. I have that same combination but have trouble with the KPC 680 going dormant. Using the CTR 350 wirelessly to connect.
I'm NOT an IT professional or even a very competent user so this question may seem stupid (and I have no problem with someone telling me that!).
How do you keep the KPC 680 from going dormant? I seem to have either the KPC 680 or the CTR 350 disconnect from the computers in the wireless network. Is there something you did to keep your network up and running?
Thanks

You can always set the WiFi to "Invisible" mode, so that it does not broadcast your SSID. This will keep your average joe from finding your network. Just a tip until CP releases the next version of firmware
NOTE: Keep in mind, that if you set it to invisible mode, you will have to manually enter all of your network info to connect. I only suggest using this if you are super paranoid or don't wish to use WiFi at all. |

I'm curious as to why some folks want to disable the wireless function of the CTR350. I have a N router attached to it and both show up as available for connection. No issues, they are both on different channels. What reason is there to disable it? _________________ evdo-tips.com |

Well now that you have to LAN options Wi-Fi or Ethernet, it would be convenient to disable it for some applications. For instance, some RV parks don't allow you to use a Wi-Fi hotspot, because they want you to buy theirs.
Also, disabling broadcast doesn't stop interference, so it'd be nice to have in those situations. And it sounds like CradlePoint is going to add it, so just another great response to a feature request.
If you never need it, great, if you do need it, it's there. That's what I like to see. |

I also use a KPC-680, and just replaced a failing KR1 with the CTR350. My KR1 had become unusable over the past 2 months, resetting itself more and more, until it wouldn't hold a connection more than a minute.
I'm very impressed with this tiny router. My desktop is connected through the ethernet port and my laptop via wireless. The router is upstairs, and the wireless signal is strong everywhere downstairs. How do they do that with no external antenna?
I had an initial problem connecting to my Alltel service, which was quickly resolved with a call to 3Gstore's tech support. I had to log into the router's config page, go to the Basic->WAN page, and enter: <KPC680's phone number>@alltel.net as Username and: alltel as Password in the Cellular Modem PPP Settings. I was told that usually this step is not required, but if you're with Alltel, and can't get to the internet with your CTR350, this might help you. |

| I am having the same problems with the KR1 and KPC680. But the CTR-350 does work with the KPC680 and alltel? I believe the cradlepoint support site does NOT list it. |

Cradlepoint does not officially support KPC680 on Alltel, but if you go to the 3GStore CTR350 website it shows that the 3GStore folks have verified device compatibility.
Talking with the Cradlepoint support folks, the only reason they don't officially support a modem is because they have not had the bandwidth to put it through all the QA testing that they might like. |

question for those who might have this router and modem combo, or even just the router. it seems that about every 3-4 days i have to go and reboot my router by unplugging it from the power source. does anyone else have to do this?
thanks |

Thank you! Was having a problem connecting with my CTR500 (logs were not helpful at all) and this fixed it. |
