I'm probably missing this in a sticky but I've looked for a good while. Just ordered a booster from the 3gstore and would like to be able to do signal strength comparisons on it's effect on my V640.
Where are you guys going to get SS readings on your cards? _________________ VZW V640 |

Here's an image/graph that may help some users to better understand exactly what the RSSI numbers mean.

Cool depiction of signal strength. Does anyone know of a way to get fairly accurate coverage.....moreso than what the Sprint coverage maps? What do Sprint Engineers use?
Its frustrating to see the coverage map indicate an orange area (EVDO), and then get really crappy signal there. |

| RSSI is usefull, but don't forget its all about EC/IO. Its possible in the CDMA world (only the Forward path is CDMA) to have great RSSI but the noise floor is so high, you get a bad experience. Usually a Cell will cut you off around a EC/IO of -13dbm. Look for -6dbm as a good signal. Its possible to have a -95dmb RSSI with a low noise floor, and get perfect reception. |
