So I've officially given up on trying to install EITHER the 595 or S620 PCMCIA air cards on my Dell D620 w/XP. I've seen many posts stating that people see two drivers in the driver manager window that appear with exclamation marks, and they can't install the driver. It's OBVIOUSLY a widespread problem, and I do not understand why Dell does nothing about this. I had a lengthy techical call with them as well, they had absolutely no idea what to do. Sprint technical support, who are excellent at reading out of manuals, said the 595 was faulty and to return it. Of course you can imagine the joy to my heart it brought when my newly arrived S620 had the exact same problem. I've been an IT manager for 10 yrs, and have never seen an incompatibility quite like this... I mean, two different brands of air cards?? Am I taking crazy pills here folks?

Now, I have to revert back to the USB version of the air card, which I personally find annoying to have to find it in my laptop bag and plug it in each time, when the PCMCIA cards are already installed. Yes, I just learned about the internal miniPCI cards too, but it's not clear to me which ones work on a D620, and I think that port is filled anyway.

Can someone at least bring some sanity to this situation, I mean you would think something like this would be addressed at some point in time and not just ignored... frustrating to say the least.

The only solution for me was not buying anymore Dell computers. The position Dell took with me was: "Looks like you purchased a card that isn't compatible with your Dell computer."

There were some well known problems with the Dell Inspiron 6000 and MANY EVDO cards in the past - the only solution was using a VERY OLD EVDO Rev A card (e.g. PC5220 or AirCard 580). Those 2 cards would actually work (3-4 years old) when none of the newer ones would.

On a side note, the PCMCIA incompatibility is somewhat resolved by the USB form factor.
