I am using the Linksys54g3G-ST router I bought from the 3G store for remote CCTV surveillance. I am running four HIGH DEFINITION (> 1080p) cctv cameras and recording to a small form factor and fast PC that draws only 27 watts. I use USB 2.0 external Hard disk drives. The cameras run 24/7 and record on motion detection and one frame every 4 seconds. I use several DDNS services to hold the ip address. The cameras, PC and router are unattended! When motion is detected an automated SMTP server sends me an email wioth the the image that changed. If I am interested, I log onto my remote client from any location with internet access and within seconds can see what the cameras see. I don't really use much bandwidth, because it is not necessary to stream all the time. I use the EVDO rev A Sprint connection only as an electronic long distance "viewfinder". My cameras are designed to shoot under low light and Infared as well as during the day. Each megapixel camera has enough resolution to take the place of from 4-15 separate cameras. I don't need to use a remote pan tilt zoom camera since my HIGH DEFINITION cameras see everything even at night. I use special covert IR illuminators. All my equipment runs on batteries which are trickle charged by solar panels or an AC charger. Most of the cameras are in remote areas. I have used as many as 12 cameras on one router by using DC powered color quad switchers. I also have two audio channels to listen to the sounds of the area. Its best not to transmit voice because of the new Sprint TOS advising against voip (25cents/min). I am thinking of adding the new Cradlepoint devices. Does anyone have any experience with them? I will soon have 5 separate surveillance sites each with their own cameras. The cameras are very small and are about the size of an apple. Check out "megarecorder" on your favorite search engine.

I guess I missed that one. Since when does Sprint prohibit VOIP over EVDO?

I guess Sprint figured that you could use the broadband service to make phone calls cheaper than using the Sprint cellular voice service. Anyway, Last june 2007, they sent me an addendunm to the TOS "adding" the feature of charging me 25cents/minute for ANY voice over the data card. I don't use cell phones or require wireless voice communications anyway so it doesn't matter. I have been using mobile telephones for over 35 years and no longer use them. The voice communication is just too unreliable with any carrier. Laughing

Lots of experience with them. Great routers. What did you want to know, exactly?
